Hickory 13, Granby 1

Hickory Varsity Hawks dominated Granby Comets 12-1 behind a big performance from Jake Cozart (Old Dominion), who drove in four runs, including a three-run homer in the first inning. Hickory jumped out early and never looked back, piling up runs in the first three innings to build a commanding lead. Keegan Kerr set the tone on the mound with eight strikeouts, while the bullpen combined for scoreless relief. The Hawks totaled 12 hits and played clean defense just allowing 1 hit.

Atlantic Shores Christian 10, Benedictine 9

It was back and forth throughout this one as both offenses were firing on all cylinders. Luke Moore led the Benedictine offense with three hits and two RBI’s on the day. Bryce Georges also had a three hit day for Atlantic Shores. Angelo Banks and Brody Beasley came in for relief and helped close out the game for the Seahawks.

Kempsville 2, First Colonial 0

A litany of errors for First Colonial cost them a few runs in this one. There was not much offense combined between the two teams, but Kempsville cashed in in the second and third innings with a pair of runs. Noah Monroe (Louisburg CC) and Calvin Webb (Chowan) were the stories of the day for Kempsville. Those two combined for 4 of the six hits for the Chiefs and Webb worked three innings of hitless relief where he struck out seven.

Riverbend 3, Mountain View 1

A perfect Friday evening featured a Commonwealth District clash between arguably the top two teams in the Fredericksburg area. A tight pitcher’s duel took place as both teams unloaded their top arms throughout the game. Mountain View started senior lefty Tyler VanDyke (VMI) and Riverbend went with sophomore Shane Henderson. Henderson was spectacular for the first 4 innings, allowing just 1 hit in that time while the Bears scratched and clawed to score single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Mountain View opened the fifth with 2 hits, and senior Caleb Rist (Carson-Newman) came into the game, minimizing the damage and ultimately nailing down the save, striking out 6 over the final 3 innings. Rist was also 2-3 with an RBI at the plate and junior shortstop Thomas Wingfield was 2-4 with a 2B and 2 SBs. Weston Yount (CNU) threw 2 perfect innings of relief with 4 Ks for Mountain View.

#20 Lake Braddock 4, Woodson 3

Triday night saw a Patriot district contest come down to the wire, with the Lake Braddock Bruins getting past the Woodson Cavaliers 4-3. Woodson took an early 3-0 lead after the third, in large part thanks to strong performances from ‘28 Grant Goltry at the plate and ‘26 Ben Hunter on the mound. However, Lake Braddock would strike in the fourth and fifth, tying the game on a single from ‘28 Evan Chambers, and taking the lead on a single from ‘26 Beau Padgett (Ferrum). The Bruins would threaten to add on in the top of the seventh with a bases loaded opportunity, but a diving catch from ‘26 Ian Sawtelle would keep Braddock from scoring. In the bottom of the seventh, the Cavaliers would load the bases with nobody out, looking to either send the game to extras or walk it off. However, Padgett would sit down the next three hitters to finish an incredible complete game performance on the mound.

New Kent 14, Warhill 4

After a few errors to start the game and a two-RBI triple from Brayden Muniz, Warhill found themselves with a four-run lead, while New Kent was backed into a corner early. New Kent didn’t stay there for long. Over the next four innings, they exploded for 14 runs on 11 hits, with the biggest swing coming from Dylan Bowman, who crushed a no-doubter to spark the offense. The game ended after 4.5 innings, with New Kent walking away with a 14–4 mercy-rule win.

Menchville 16, Nandua 1

The Menchville Monarchs dominated Nandua 16-1, powered by Jacob Lineberry and Jaylin Jubray, who both collected two hits with multiple runs driven in. The Monarchs jumped out early with a big first inning and added six more runs in the third to break the game open. The Monarchs pitching staff combined for one run allowed and only 3 hits.

#2 St. Anne's-Belfield 5, Collegiate 4

It was a back and forth affair for the second matchup of the week between these two VISAA DI foes. An error cost the Cougars a run in the first, but they would get it back courtesy a Sam Settar double. Collegiate would take the lead in the third with an Owen Prusek sac fly and an Emery Williamson single. STAB would close the gap in the fourth on a Mike Poncy groundball. The Saints would tie it up one inning later on a wild pitch. In the sixth STAB would take a two run lead on a Brooks Fox clutch homerun. Fox also added a double earlier in the game. Parker Thomas would work 3.1 innings of relief and pick up the win. The sophomore allowed only one hit and struck out three during his outing.

Central Virginia Homeschool 16, Trinity Episcopal 3

The Patriot offense came out aggressive putting up runs early and didn't look back. Zack Bergh and Gannon Harmeyer combined for six hits and six RBI’s that paced the offense throughout the game. Rocco Fischi had two hits for Trinity, but that wasn’t enough to slow down the Patriot offense.

#14 Highland School 3, #10 Western Branch 1

The story of the night was Jake Gunning’s bat and the young and talented arms for both teams. Max McEwen (Apprentice School) got the scoring started with a RBI double in the top of the first, while Jake Gunning (William & Mary) would answer with a solo blast in the bottom half. Wright Broadhead would bring home another in the bottom of the first with a RBI single. In the second, Gunning would hit another solo homerun, this one over the batter’s eye in dead center. That would be all the scoring for the night, and it would be the arm’s time to shine. For the Bruins, freshman Tripp Poore threw 3.1 innings, allowed five hits, three earned, and struck out six. He was relieved by sophomore Ryan Waddell. Waddell threw 2.2 innings, did not allow a hit, and struck out seven. The Highland arms were equally as strong. Kaden Zimorowicz (JMU) worked five innings, allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck out five. Antonio Burke got the six out save with two scoreless. Burke allowed one hit and struck out two during his short relief appearance.
