Statistical standouts and notable performances from across the state. These players have produced elite numbers on the diamond during the Spring season.

The Arizona Diamond Notes is evolving. While box scores and nominations are a huge part of our process, this weekly blog is shifting focus toward what our staff sees with our own eyes.

Every week, our scouts are out at ballparks across the Valley and beyond, from the 6A powerhouses in the East Valley to the deep talent pools in Tucson and the West Valley. This notebook serves as a running log of the standout performances and breakout prospects who caught our attention in person over the past seven days.

CLASS OF 2026

Diego Perez Samaniego 3B / 1B / Millennium, AZ / 2026 / Phoenix College Commit

Perez continues to stand out as a consistent middle of the order presence with competitive at bats and run producing ability. Shows a simple, controlled swing with strength through contact and feel for the barrel to the pull side. Stays within himself in big spots and delivers when needed. Reliable bat with steady impact and toughness throughout the lineup.

 

 

Ezekiel Zion OF / Campo Verde, AZ / 2026 / South Mountain Commit

Zion turned in one of the more complete performances of the week, impacting the game on both sides. At the plate, shows a direct path with present bat speed and consistent barrel accuracy, producing loud contact to all fields. Defensively, displays range and instincts with the ability to make momentum shifting plays. High energy player with real tools and production.

 

 

Jackson Weber SS / C / Horizon, AZ / 2026 / ASU Commit

Weber continues to show advanced offensive traits with strength and barrel control. The swing is efficient and repeatable, allowing him to drive the baseball with authority when he gets extended. Consistently produces hard contact with impact to the pull side. Middle of the order bat with high level offensive feel.

 

 

Austin Longfellow OF / Arizona College Prep Erie Campus, AZ / 2026 / Mesa CC Commit

Longfellow showed a strong, athletic look with present strength that translates to in game power. The ability to drive the ball to the big part of the yard stands out, with carry to center field. Moves well in the outfield for his size with an athletic profile. Offensive upside built around strength and leverage.

 

 

Noah Kim SS / 2B / Arizona College Prep High School, AZ / 2026 / Uncommitted

Kim showed a polished offensive approach with plus bat to ball skills and the ability to find multiple barrels. The swing is smooth and under control, working through the middle of the field with consistency. Defensively, brings energy and reliability with a high motor. Steady performer who shows up daily with a competitive edge.

 

 

Benjamin Ball OF / SS / Hamilton , AZ / 2026 / Arizona Commit

Ball shows a confident, aggressive approach with the ability to attack early in counts. Quick trigger with intent, allowing him to drive the baseball with authority to the pull side gap. The swing works with explosiveness and bat speed. Offensive profile built around timing and impact.

 

 

Sam Green SS / OF / Pinnacle, AZ / 2026 / Yavapai Commit

Green continues to show a comfortable, confident look in the box with consistent barrel feel. Gets the head out and creates lift, allowing the power to show up in game. The swing is fluid and repeatable with strong timing. Offensive presence who continues to produce.

 

 

Ryan Harwood OF / Casteel, AZ / 2026 / Texas A&M Commit

Harwood continues to show a physical, high impact offensive profile with real bat speed. Stays grounded through the swing and drives the ball with authority to both gaps. The ball jumps off the barrel with strength and intent. Middle of the order bat with power upside.

 

 

Clayton Cooper OF / 3B / Basha, AZ / 2026 / Yavapai Commit

Cooper shows a simple, controlled offensive operation with quick twitch actions. Stays tight to the body and clears efficiently, allowing the barrel to work through the zone. Produces consistent contact with feel for the barrel. Athletic outfielder with a clean offensive foundation.

 

 

CLASS OF 2027

Colton Floyd 3B / RHP / Corona Del Sol, AZ / 2027 / Texas A&M Commit

Floyd continues to trend up with a high ceiling offensive profile built around his physical frame. Despite the size he still shows a fluid, easy swing with natural leverage and power. The ball jumps off the barrel with minimal effort. Impact bat with significant long term upside.

 

 

Will Newman SS / Pinnacle, AZ / 2027 / Washington Commit

Newman shows a twitchy, athletic profile with a quick, efficient swing. The barrel works clean through the zone, producing solid contact up the middle. Actions are fluid and controlled with projection remaining. Athletic infielder with developing offensive upside.

 

 

Erik Moo OF / 1B / Pinnacle, AZ / 2027 / Uncommitted

Moo continues to show a simple, repeatable offensive operation with natural lift. The swing stays on a level plane with feel for contact and developing power. Athletic outfielder who makes plays defensively and contributes offensively. Well rounded profile with upside.

 

 

Griffin Gregory C / 3B / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 2027 / Uncommitted

Gregory presents a strong, physical frame with present strength in the swing. Shows the ability to use the outer half and still create lift, driving the ball with authority the other way. Power plays to all fields with continued development. Offensive upside tied to strength and leverage.

 

 

Gavin Hamilton OF / Hamilton, AZ / 2027 / Uncommitted

Hamilton shows a controlled, balanced swing with the ability to stay behind the baseball and create lift. Gets ready early and works from a strong base, allowing him to impact the pull side. The swing is efficient with power that translates. Offensive profile trending up.

 

 

Kyle Wisniewski SS / Campo Verde, AZ / 2027 / Air Force Commit

Wisniewski shows a physical, athletic build with present tools across the board. Keeps the hands back and works through contact with strength, producing gap to gap impact. Athletic mover with defensive versatility. Well rounded player with upside.

 

 

Roberto Quiñonez SS / 3B / Apollo, AZ / 2027 / Uncommitted

Quiñonez shows an athletic, projectable frame with an aggressive offensive approach. Attacks pitches with intent and looks to drive the baseball, showing awareness of the zone. The swing works with strength and leverage, producing near impact. Offensive upside with physical projection remaining.

 

 

UNDERCLASS STANDOUTS (2028-2029)

Yadier Lizarraga C / 3B / Tolleson Union, AZ / 2028

Lizararaga shows a strong foundation behind the plate with the ability to control the run game. Clean transfers and accurate throws stand out, with continued arm strength development ahead. At the plate, shows feel for the zone and competes in at bats. Young catcher with defensive upside and leadership traits.

 

 

Mikey Stortz RHP / 1B / Millennium, AZ / 2028

Stortz continues to emerge as a name to follow with a polished, command based profile. Works both sides of the plate with the fastball and shows the ability to change speeds effectively. Keeps hitters off balance with consistency and poise. Young arm with feel and projection.

 

 

Max King OF / LHP / Canyon View, AZ / 2028

King shows a loose, athletic setup with a simple swing that produces consistent contact. The operation is clean with feel for the barrel and developing strength. Athleticism stands out with room to continue trending upward. Young outfielder with projection.

 

 

Mario* Hayden Giannone OF / C / Mountain Ridge, AZ / 2029

Giannone shows a compact, efficient swing with present bat speed for his age. Stays short to the ball and works the opposite field with confidence. Advanced feel for contact with developing strength. Young bat with a knack for finding barrells.

 

 

Landon Swinehart OF / Millennium, AZ / 2028

Swinehart showed a composed, competitive presence in the box with the ability to respond in tough counts. Stays under control and works from a balanced base, allowing him to turn on pitches and drive them with authority to the pull side gap. Strength shows up at contact with a swing that plays in game. Young bat with competitiveness and emerging impact ability.
