Throughout the high school season, we will recognize a Mizuno Player of the Week and Mizuno Pitcher of the Week. Each week, standout performances from both position players and pitchers across the state will be highlighted as players continue to produce eye-catching results. This season, one Player of the Week and one Pitcher of the Week will be selected based on nominations submitted by high school coaches throughout Mississippi. MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jaxon Herod SS / 3B / West Union Attendance Center, MS / 2028 Jaxon Herod (West Union) put together a dominant week at the plate, solidifying his status as one of the top prospects in the Mississippi 2028 class. The highly regarded underclassman went 7-for-14 (.500) with two home runs, a triple, a double, and three singles, driving in an impressive 13 runs while scoring six times. He also showed discipline at the plate with two walks, consistently impacting the game in the middle of the lineup and leading West Union’s offensive surge.

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Kolby Stringer RHP / 3B / West Marion High School, MS / 2026 RHP Kolby Stringer (West Marion), a Pearl River CC recruit, continues to dominate on the mound and currently leads the state in strikeouts. The right-hander turned in one of the most impressive outings of the week, tossing a complete-game gem in a 1-0 win over 3A No. 1 Presbyterian Christian. Stringer went six shutout innings, allowing just four hits while racking up 15 strikeouts and walking four, overpowering hitters and delivering in a big-time matchup. Stringer's outing this past week earns him Pitcher of the Week for the second time this spring.
