NJ Preseason All-State - Session 2: Quick Hits

On March 7th, our staff hosted the annual 2026 NJ Preseason All-State: Session 2 at Centercourt Marlboro in Morganville, NJ. Around 100 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in New Jersey, as well as a few players from just over the New York and Pennsylvania border.
We begin our post-event content today with our quick hits from the event, highlighting some of the notable players from the day and their numbers.

Position Players
+ SS Nikash Patel (St. Thomas Aquinas, 2027):
Currently ranked 23rd in the state’s 2027 class, a strong 6‑foot, 198‑pound athlete, showed big juice at the plate with a 103.5 mph max exit velocity and a 391‑foot peak, driving the baseball with authority throughout BP. His speed showed up as well, posting a 1.69 10‑yard, 3.89 30‑yard, and a 7.01 60‑yard with a 19.6 mph top run speed. A physical, explosive mover who paired real power with above‑average athleticism.

+ OF Luke Lonczak (Red Bank Catholic, 2027):
Currently ranked 36th in the state’s 2027 class, Lonczak flashed real strength and athleticism, posting a 101.3 mph max exit velocity with a 92.9 mph average in BP. He moved well for his frame, turning in a 1.83 10‑yard, 3.91 30‑yard, and a 6.80 60‑yard with a 21.2 mph top run speed. He also showed carry from the outfield with an 87 mph arm, rounding out a strong all‑around performance.”
+ C Brody Garguilo (Ranney, 2027):
Currently ranked 39th in the state’s 2027 class, Garguilo showed some strength at the plate, barreling up a 100.0 mph max exit velocity with a strong 92.9 mph average. Behind the dish, he turned in consistent 1.90–2.00 pop times with an 81 mph arm, showing quick feet and clean exchanges.

+ LHP/1B Matthew Filiaci (Seton Hall Prep, 2028):
Currently ranked 24th overall in the state’s 2028 class, Filiaci showed real two‑way ability, posting a 100.7 mph max exit velocity with a 90.0 mph average to highlight his strength at the plate. On the mound, he topped at 86.6 mph and mixed a 76–78 mph curveball (2,600 max spin) with a firm 79–80 mph changeup. A strong, competitive showing with impact on both sides.

+ RHP/2B Adriel Huertas (Bergen Catholic, 2028):
Currently ranked 22nd in the state’s 2028 class, Huertas posted a 95.5 mph max exit velocity with a 90.2 mph average to highlight consistent barrel strength. On the mound, he topped at 88.4 mph and held 86–88 with a high‑spin fastball (2,553 max). He paired it with a sharp 71–77 mph curveball that spun up to 2,993 rpm, a 75–77 mph slider at 2,905 rpm, and an 81–82 mph changeup. A well‑rounded profile with real feel for spin and impact at the plate.

+ RHP Tillman Schroeder (Paramus Catholic, 2028):
Currently ranked 10th overall in the state’s 2028 class, a long 6‑foot‑3, 193‑pound right‑hander, topped at 89.4 mph and held 87–89 with a fastball that played well at 92.1 effective velocity. He mixed a 74–75 mph curveball with 2,655 rpm at peak, a firm 78–80 mph cutter, and a 78–80 mph changeup to round out a full arsenal. A projectable frame with a clean four‑pitch mix and more in the tank.

+ RHP Cristian Matos (Don Bosco Prep, 2028):
Currently ranked 18th overall in the 2028 class, Matos turned in a strike‑filled bullpen, working efficiently in the zone with a fastball up to 88.0 mph and steady 86–87 command. He paired it with a 75–76 mph curveball that spun up to 2,766 rpm and a sharp 78–79 mph slider at 2,799 rpm, while the 81–82 mph changeup gave him a dependable fourth look.
+ RHP Hudson Giddens (St. Peter’s Prep, 2027):
Currently ranked 68th overall in the 2027 class, a lean and athletic 6‑foot‑1, 180‑pound right‑hander, topped at 87.0 mph and worked comfortably in the 85–86 range with a fastball that played at 87.2 effective velocity. His 72–74 mph slider spun up to 2,711 rpm with heavy sweep (-20.4 HM), giving him a real lateral‑action weapon. He rounded out the mix with a firm 79–80 mph changeup.
