Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2026 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public and private schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2026.

#1 Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers 

The cream of the crop when it comes to the MIAA, Spalding enters the 2026 spring looking to return to the mountaintop of the conference. A loaded roster on both sides of the ball at Coach Palumbo's disposal, this roster makeup contains experienced upperclassmen hungry to avenge their loss last year, and possibly an even hungrier crop of younger players vying for key playing time. The pitching rotation is certainly strong at the top, and the lineup possesses hitters that made a huge impact a year ago. If Spalding wants to run the table, look for consistency being key, and their top players playing to their potential.
