4A Region Predictions

4A West Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Urbana Hawks

Cole’s Winner: Urbana Hawks

Write-Up: 2026 sees a minimal move in the West Region I, as South Hagerstown moves in and swaps with Frederick from the 3A West Region I. Once again this spring, both of us see Urbana coming out of this region, as the Hawks look to avenge their state championship loss a year ago and enter the 2026 spring with arguably the most balanced and high-powered roster in the entire state. Thomas Johnson is a storied program in this region and always tends to play teams tough, no matter what the roster makeup is year in and year out. Northwest is a sneaky team in this region, and don’t be surprised to see the Jaguars potentially give Urbana some fits, as the roster looks more balanced on both sides of the ball in 2026 with an increase in production on the bump, most notably the transfer in from senior two-way and Fairmont State commit Isaiah Babcock.

4A West Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Walter Johnson Wildcats

Cole’s Winner: Walter Johnson Wildcats

Write-Up: Arguably the toughest region from year’s past is back in 2026, and look for this to be a highly competitive region once again come playoff time. Walter Johnson is the defending 4A State Champions, and both of us are picking the Wildcats to come out of this entertaining region again in 2026. You can go on and on about how competitive this region is, as there are headlines throughout. The young talent from Bethesda-Chevy Chase should be fun to key in on and the usual firepower from a senior-led Walt Whitman squad should make them a high follow in this region as well. WJ is coming off a state title, and we see the Wildcats still the team to beat in 2026. A coach Sutherland led squad with arguably the top arm in the county, we’ll roll with them for the time being.

4A North Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Dulaney Lions

Cole’s Winner: Dulaney Lions

Write-Up: Dulaney enters the region from the 3A classification, and Mergenthaler leaves the region to compete in the 4A East Region II. Kenwood won this region in 2025, however, a new monster in Dulaney entering certainly adds some competition to this Baltimore County led region. Our staff sees the new face in Dulaney taking this region, as the firepower, senior-led depth and overall balance should be enough to push the Lions deep into the playoffs. Parkville and Kenwood should be the next two right behind Dulaney, as they have been the two most notable programs in this region in years past.

4A North Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Richard Montgomery Rockets

Cole’s Winner: Blake Bengels

Jamie’s Write-Up: Some shakeup in this region, as Blake enters from the 3A South and Paint Branch slides to the 4A South. The Blake move adds even more competition to this region, and like Cole, I believe this region is strong at the top with Richard Montgomery and Blake leading the charge. I’m going to go with the Rockets to defend their region title in 2025, as the offense in my opinion has the chance of being explosive. Speed and upperclassmen leadership will be at the forefront of this offense, and look for the baserunning capabilities, coupled with some consistent run producing from the middle to push the Rockets over the top once again.

Cole’s Write-Up: I see this region as a two-team race between Blake and RM. When a team can hold its ace until the region finals, the outcome often comes down to which squad has the more dominant frontline arm. We saw that play out last year when RM captured the region behind Alex Von Behren. This season, Isaac Blinkoff could be the difference-maker that pushes Blake over the top. With realignment, the Bengals move up to 4A after previously being grouped with Sherwood, and that experience should help them handle what will likely be a challenging path.

4A South Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Montgomery Blair Blazers

Cole’s Winner: Montgomery Blair Blazers

Write-Up: Plenty of shakeup in this region, most notably, 2025 4A South Region I winner Reservoir slides down to the 3A South. Paint Branch and Eleanor Roosevelt move into the region, as Northwood joins Reservoir and slides down to the 3A West. Roosevelt won the 4A South Region II title a year ago and should be highlighted as the team to contest Blair for the region title in 2026. The Blazers, in our opinion, possess the most talent on paper in the region, as top-end arms and dynamic bats litter this roster and make for one of the more exciting teams to watch across the entire state this spring. The experience and talent alone should push Blair through this region, and we see a deep run on the horizon for the Blazers this spring.

4A South Region II

Jamie’s Winner: C.H. Flowers Jaguars

Cole’s Winner: Parkdale Panthers

Jamie's Write-Up: Suitland slides into the 4A South Region II this spring, as the aforementioned Eleanor Roosevelt moves to the South Region I. Roosevelt won the region in fairly dominating fashion a year ago; a 14-4 defeat of C.H. Flowers, and I believe the Jaguars will finally get over the hump and win this region in 2026. A tough and experienced foe in Parkdale should be their biggest competition, however, Flowers has been here before and I believe are primed for a region title.

Cole's Write-Up: With last year’s champion, Eleanor Roosevelt, moving to South Region I, this region appears wide open heading into 2026. Parkdale was one of PG County’s most improved teams in 2025, jumping from five wins to eleven behind an upperclassman-heavy roster. Now stocked with senior leadership, the Panthers have a legitimate opportunity to take the next step this spring. However, they may first need to settle some unfinished business with Flowers, who remains in the region after eliminating Parkdale in run-rule fashion last season.

4A East Region I

Jamie’s Winner: Severna Park Falcons

Cole’s Winner: Severna Park Falcons

Write-Up: A region that saw four teams last year jumps to six in 2026, as Mergenthaler, Severn Run, and Severna Park all enter while Crofton slides to the 4A East Region II. Severna Park makes a jump into the 4A classification following a stunning loss to Arundel in the 3A East I region title game a year ago, and we look for a newfound vengeance from Falcons in 2026. A pitching staff that is loaded with experienced talent and an offense that flashes pieces throughout, look for the Falcons to be the team to beat in this region this spring.

4A East Region II

Jamie’s Winner: Broadneck Bruins

Cole’s Winner: Leonardtown Raiders

Jamie's Write-Up: Suitland moves out and a strong program in Crofton moves in, making this an even more competitive region than years past. In the 2025 region final, Broadneck defeated Leonardtown in a close 2-1 game, and we see both as being the teams to beat in this region again in 2026. Broadneck graduates a ton on both sides of the ball, but still return a slew of impact players from a year ago, and look for some of their younger players to make a huge jump in 2026. Leonardtown returns more on paper, however, I believe the overarching talent, especially on the offensive side pushes Broadneck to another region title in 2026.

Cole's Write-Up: Leonardtown has established itself as a major presence in this classification over the past two seasons. After capturing the state title in 2024 and falling to Broadneck in extra innings in the 2025 region final, the Raiders enter this year motivated and looking for redemption. Broadneck graduated several key contributors from last season’s semifinal run, creating an opportunity for Leonardtown to capitalize with its experienced, upperclassman-heavy roster. Strong showings in early scrimmages only reinforce that outlook, and their balance on both the mound and at the plate should be enough to get the job done.
