Mizuno Player & Pitcher of the Week: Week 4

Throughout the high school season, we will recognize a Mizuno Player of the Week and Mizuno Pitcher of the Week. Each week, standout performances from both position players and pitchers across the state will be highlighted as players continue to produce eye-catching results. This season, one Player of the Week and one Pitcher of the Week will be selected based on nominations submitted by high school coaches throughout Mississippi. MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Cole Ellison RHP / Canton Academy, MS / 2027Cole Ellison of Canton Academy delivered a dominant two-way performance, tossing seven innings of no-hit baseball with zero walks and 11 strikeouts against Winston Academy. Ellison wasn’t done there as he also provided the game’s biggest swing, launching a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to secure the victory. His performance showcased both his command on the mound and his ability to impact the game offensively. |
MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Tai Jones OF / RHP / Jackson Academy, MS / 2026Tai Jones, a McClennan CC recruit from Jackson Academy, had a big week at the plate, going 9-for-21 while showcasing his power and run production. Jones tallied two doubles and three home runs, driving in 10 runs and scoring 10 times during the stretch. His offensive production played a major role in Jackson Academy’s lineup, as the Raiders played a tough stretch this past week both in Mississippi and Alabama. Jones' standout week made POTW honors tough to choose from as his teammates Justin Word and Deuce Jenkins also had very similar weeks offensively. |
