Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings

With playoffs on the horizon, we are making one of our final updates to the Power 25 before the road to state truly begins. Our top three teams remain the same, with No. 1 St. Laurence (30-1) going 2-0, No. 2 Normal Community (29-2) going 5-0 and No. 3 Lincoln-Way East (25-4) splitting a tough series with No. 4 at the time Lockport

Rising 

+ No. 4 Huntley (26-4): The Red Raiders are rising three spots after a perfect 3-0 week. They took down No. 9 McHenry by the score of 7-3, and also took two from Hampshire (5-1, 15-3). One of the hottest teams in the state right now, they’ve won nine straight after their three game skid a few weeks ago. 

+ No. 7 Triad (25-5): The Knights are rising three spots after a 3-0 week, highlighted by two dominant wins over No. 15 Mascoutah, both being 11-1 victories. They also took down Belleville East 15-3 to cap off a dominant week. 

+ No. 9 Mount Carmel (23-10): Up two spots after a 3-0 week, the Caravan saw two quality conference wins over St. Rita (8-4, 6-2). To cap off their week, they took down Chicago Washington handedly 10-0. 

+ No. 10 Lemont (26-3): Lemont had a busy week, winning all four games they played and rising two spots as a result. They took down Oak Forest twice (7-3, 8-2), as well as Reavis 9-2 and Romeoville 3-0. 

+ No. 11 St. Joseph-Ogden (30-2): The Spartans are rising three spots after a 4-0 week, highlighted by a 6-5 win over a strong East Peoria club. They also saw wins over Tri Valley 5-2, Bishop McNamara 2-0, and Charleston 4-0. 

+ No. 16 Minooka (25-5): Minooka had a busy week with four games on their schedule, winning all of them to jump three spots. Their big win came against No. 4 Lockport, 14-4 - and they also took three games from Bolingbrook (14-2, 21-6, 6-2). 

+ No. 18 Tremont (28-2): The Turks are up three spots after going 4-0 this past week, outscoring their opponents 51-9. They took down Princeville 13-2, El Paso-Gridley 16-1, Pekin 13-1 and Lexington 9-5 to improve their overall record to 28-2. 

+ No. 21 Willowbrook (27-4): The Warriors had a clean 4-0 week, highlighted by a 10-4 win over No. 18 at the time Lyons Township. They also defeated Morton in a three-game set, winning 4-3, 4-0 and 11-7. 

Falling 

+ No. 8 Lane Tech (27-5): The Champions’ win streak came to an end on Saturday to Whitney Young by the score of 7-5  in the Chicago Public League Semi-Finals. They did win three games on the week however - taking down St. Patrick 12-0, Northside 11-1 and Von Steuben 3-0. 

+ No. 12 Libertyville (22-9-1): A 2-2 week has the Wildcats down four spots in this update. They fell to Lake Forest 7-6 and New Trier 4-3- but also saw wins over Lake Forest 5-2 and Hersey 18-0. 

+ No. 17 Mascoutah (24-5): Mascoutah is down a couple spots after a 2-2 week. They fell to No. 10 Triad twice, both by the score of 11-1. They also saw wins over Mater Dei 15-5 and Columbia 9-1 to balance it out. 

+ No. 19 Normal University (23-5): The Pioneers are dropping a couple spots after an 0-2 week to some strong opponents. They fell to No. 2 Normal Community 3-0, along with Sacred Heart-Griffin 16-10. 

New to the Power 25 

+ No. 24 Waterloo (20-6): The Bulldogs are making their debut in the Power 25 after a dominant 5-0 week. They outscored their opponents 50-7 - taking down Jersey twice (4-1, 16-2), Granite City 4-3, Valmeyer 11-1 and Gibault Catholic 15-0. 

+ No. 25 Lake Forest (24-5): The Scouts are making their debut in the Power 25 as well, going 3-1 on the week with a big win over No. 8 Libertyville 7-6. They also saw wins over Johnsburg 4-0 and Wauconda 13-12. Their lone loss came to No. 8 Libertyville 5-2.
