2026 KSHSAA Player of the Week: Week 5

Andy Urban & Eliott Wilk
Prep Baseball Kansas Staff

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Prep Baseball KS Player of the Week. We will rely on submissions from high school coaches and others by way of email ([email protected]) or DM on X (twitter). Nominations should include player name, grad year, position, and stat line. The Kansas High School Player of the Week will be released every Tuesday afternoon. We will cover all players nominated for player of the week in our Diamond Notes article that comes out on Wednesdays.

Thank you to each high school coach who submitted a nomination for this week's awards.

Let's take a look at the Player of the Week for Week 5 (April 20th-April 26th):

Brody Epke OF / LHP / Maize South, KS / 2026

The Maize South leadoff man was virtually unstoppable last week en route to fueling a perfect 4-0 run for the Mavericks. The Omaha signee swung a red hot bat, finishing the stretch 11-for-16 with six extra-base hits, six RBIs, and five stolen bases. Epke’s week was highlighted by a historic doubleheader against Valley Center; after going 9-for-10 across both games, he capped off the performance by hitting for the first cycle in school history. For good measure, he also stepped onto the mound to toss two shutout innings, racking up five strikeouts to complete a dominant all-around week.
