2026 OSSAA Player of the Week: Week Eight
April 28, 2026
We will be doing the Mizuno Player of the Week honors at the beginning of each week with submissions due to [email protected] by 8:00 PM Sunday night.
Each week we go through all the box scores from throughout the week as well as look at submissions turned in by high school coaches to pick our Player of the Week. There were numerous players with impressive weeks both at the plate and on the mound, but a 10-hit week that included a cycle in district play helps Whit Thomas brings home the honors.
Thomas had a big week, four multi-hit games, that saw him go 10/16 with 6 extra base hits. Further, he was both a run producer with 10 RBI for the week but also found a way to score with 7 Runs of his own. The week's highlight came in district play with a 4-hit game that included a cycle, 5 RBI, and 3 Runs and a continuance of a multi-week heater that he has been on. Over the last two weeks, the Heritage Hall product is 17/29 with 11 XBH, 17 Runs, and 13 RBI while playing shortstop for the Chargers. A monster week at the plate, driving the baseball with authority, and a cycle in district play has made Whit Thomas our Mizuno Player of the Week for Week Eight.
