The Marauders battled through a one-run nail-biter against Castle (9-8) in the semifinal before delivering a complete-team effort in the title game to bring the crown home. Offensively, the Marauders were powered all season by Mikah Noda, who paced the team in hits, runs, RBI, doubles and triples, a true engine at the top of the lineup whose ability to get on, drive in runs and stretch base hits into extra bases set the tone in both playoff wins. Aeden Dikilato added value with 11 SB's on the year with a .395 BA and a HR. Zephaniah Tamapua was another key contributor in the Marauder lineup, slashing .368 on the year. Maddox Oasay added value on both sides, eating up innings on the bump with a 2.48 ERA and timely hitting on the year with 12 RBI. On the mound, Reece Maruyama was the workhorse of the staff, leading the team in innings, wins and strikeouts and giving Waipahu a true No. 1 to lean on in the championship round. Waipahu now turns its attention to the HHSAA Division II State Tournament, where the Marauders bring exactly the kind of postseason-tested toughness that is needed this time of year. |
