Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.

We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. No. 2 Normal Community came from behind to beat Morton 8-7. Josh Jones (2026; Indiana State Commit) started the game tossing 3.2 innings and striking out five. For the Ironmen offense, Drew Stevens (2026; Valparaiso Commit) had himself a nice game by going 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, and two RBIs. Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati Commit) went 1-for-3 with a walk, two-RBI single, and a run scored. The Ironmen came from behind in the late innings. Jacob Engel (2026) hit the game-tying two-RBI single in the sixth inning. Then, in the seventh inning, Gavin Swartz (2026; Indiana Commit) and Beckett Weber (2026) hit back-to-back RBI doubles to seal the game for the Ironmen. Senior Max Heinemann (UIC commit) added two hits and a double to help the offense. Engel pitched the final two innings and got the win. For Morton, Owen Adams and Collins Burns were both 2-4 with 2 RBI each.

Recap

No. 5 Libertyville defeated Lake Zurich 5-2. The WIldcats offense won the game early when they put up a four-spot in the second inning. Chase Lockwood (2026; Illinois State Commit) got things started with an RBI single. Two batters later, Madden Cotts (2027; Bradley Commit) hit a two-RBI single, which proved to be the game-winner. The next batter, Matthew Hara (2027), reached on an error to allow Cotts to score. Hara later hit an RBI single to knock in his RBI of the game. Kaden Butt (2027) came in relief and pitched 5.2 scoreless innings and struck out two batters to qualify for the win. Braden Tolzien (2026; Heartland CC Commit) struck out two of the four batters he faced and notched the save.

Edwardsville 7

Recap

Edwardsville took down No. 6 O'Fallon 7-1. Andrew McCutchen (2029) led the Tigers in RBIs with his two-run single, which was part of a five-run third inning. Hunter Baugh (2026; Lindenwood Commit) got the scoring started on his RBI single before he and Ty Hunt (2027) scored on an error all in the third inning. Miller Dunnill (2027) tossed five innings and struck out three batters while giving up only one earned run in his quality start. For O'Fallon, Brayden Robertson (2026; UI-Springfield Commit) put them on the board early with his sacrifice fly.

Recap

No. 7 Lockport came from behind and beat Downers Grove South 6-5. Trace Schaaf (2026; Morton JC Commit) went five innings and struck out five batters. Tommy Miller (2027) qualified for the win in his outing that lasted two-thirds of an inning. Kaden O'Leary (2027) went 2-for-3 with two doubles and a bases-loaded walk to knock in two RBIs of the game. Adam Kozak (2026; Lewis Commit) once again got on the RBI board with his RBI single. Then, in the seventh inning trailing by two, Zack Skrzypiec (2026) hit an RBI double before Frank Covelli (2027) hit a walk-off two-RBI double to win the game for the Porters.

#8 Triad 10

H C. Gaskil: 2-for-5, 2 HR, 3 RBI
Recap

No. 8 Triad defeated Highland 10-3. Carter Gaskil (2026; UI-Springfield Commit) led the Knights offense by going 2-for-5 with a two-home run game (solo and two-run). Braxton Yates (2026; Lewis & Clark CC Commit) had a two-RBI triple, three hit by pitches, a walk, four stolen bases, and three runs scored. Nolan Keller (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) went 3-for-5 with a double, two singles, a stolen base, run scored, and two RBIs. Auggie Bugger and Brody Hasquin (2027) each knocked in RBI singles in this contest. Matt Morris (2028) got the win by pitching 4.1 innings and striking out five batters. Brody Hasquin pitched the remaining 2.2 scoreless innings and struck out three.

#9 New Trier 11

H C. Estrada: 3-for-5, HR, 2 R, 6 RBI
Recap

No. 9 New Trier bounced back against Deerfield to win 11-7. The main reason for that was Chase Estrada (2029), who went 3-for-5 with an RBI single, a two-run single, and a three-run home run to knock in six RBIs of the game. Kincaid Buck hit a two-RBI double to contribute to this offense. Daniel Spilotro pitched 3.1 innings in relief and struck out three batters and qualified for the win. Trevor Bacik (2027) finished this contest by striking out four batters in his eight-out save. For Deerfield, Chase Golding was 3-for-4 to pace the offense, homering twice with three RBIs and two runs scored. Drew Wiener (2 RBI) and Grant Wilson (2B, RBI) each had two hits - while Matthew Willner was 1-for-2 wit ha double, three runs scored and a stolen base.

#11 Brother Rice 5

Recap

No. 11 Brother Rice came from behind and defeated Marmion 5-3. All five runs were unanswered for the Crusaders. In the third inning, Anthony Cartolana (2027) scored the first run on a wild pitch. Then, Treylan Webster hit an RBI double to bring the deficit to one. In the fifth inning, Gavin Stanislawski (2027) tied it at three with his RBI double. Then, Joey Escobarete scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Myles Broome (2027) followed that up with an RBI single to push across an insurance run. Aidan Dillon (2027) struck out three batters in his three-inning scoreless relief outing to qualify for the win. Rocco Galasso (2027) picked up the five-out save by striking out two and not giving up a run. The bullpen does the job for the Crusaders.

No. 14 Marquette routed Dwight 20-7. The Crusaders offense was led by three players: Easton Debernardi (2027), Jaxsen Higgins (2026), and Alec Novotney (2026; Valparaiso Commit), who each knocked in three RBIs. Debernardi went 2-for-4 with a double, single, and a run scored. Higgins went 2-for-3 with also a double, single, and a run scored along with a walk. Novotney went 1-for-3 with an RBI double, two walks, and three runs scored. Anthony Couch (2026; Spoon River JC Commit) went 2-for-4 with two singles, a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs. Grady Dose (2028) had a day on the basepaths with an RBI groundout, RBI single, a walk, two stolen bases, and a run scored. Griffin Dobberstein (2027) hit four singles and knocked in an RBI for this contest. Easton Debernardi started the first two innings and struck out two batters. Anthony Couch pitched 1.2 innings in relief and struck out four batters.

Montini took down No. 17 Lyons 3-2. Santino Mateja started the offense with an RBI fielder's choice to put the Broncos up early. In the fifth inning, John Louise (2027) hit the go-ahead RBI double before Mateja drew the bases-loaded walk on four straight pitches, which proved to be the game winner. Robert Sansone (2026) pitched 6.1 stellar innings and struck out seven batters, which earned him the win. Julio Ayala (2027) retired the final two batters of the game and notched the save.

No. 18 Homewood-Flossmoor defeated Rich Township 10-3. The Vikings offense was led by Jhames Holley (2026; Joliet JC Commit), who went 4-for-4 with two doubles, two singles, two stolen bases, three runs scored, and three RBIs. Kamari Dawkins went 2-for-2 with two singles, a walk, sacrifice fly, and three RBIs. Jack Castady (2026) went 1-for-2 with an RBI single, sacrifice fly, and a walk. Jalen Webb (2027) knocked in an RBI single for this contest. Chris Hicks (2026; Claflin Commit) started the game by delivering 2.1 innings and punching out a batter. Zach Kyln pitched 2.2 relief innings and struck out two batters and did not give up a hit.

No. 19 Geneva defeated St. Charles North 16-8 to move to 12-1 on the season. The Vikings consistent offensive attack was led by Nick Lozano (2028; 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 5 RBI), Alex Abraham (2027; 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI), Nelson Wendell (2027; 2-for-4, 2 2B, RBI, 2R SB), and Josh Frieders (2026; 3-for-5, 2 RBI, 2 R). Mason Netcel (2026; Indiana State) and Ty Gleason (2027) each homered, and Langdon Straub (2026) was 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Lemont rolled past Hillcrest 31–1 to improve to 9–2 on the season, with a true team effort as 13 players recorded hits, 15 drove in runs, and 14 scored. Owen Tosch (2027) was a HR away from the cycle, driving in five runs, Michael Kalkowski (2027) homered and drove in three, and Charlie Duerr (2027) tripled and drove in four. Sean Crane (2026) got the start and the victory on the mound, going three hitless innings, allowing no runs, and striking out seven.

Springfield 6

Springfield defeated No. 25 Sacred Heart-Griffin 6-5. Brody Scheffler (2026; Lincoln Land CC Commit) dealt six innings and struck out nine batters. Alex Hein slammed the door and faced only two batters to notch the save. The Springfield offense was led by Liam Watts (2027), who did all the damage in this contest with a walk, RBI single, and the game-winning grand slam in the sixth inning to seal the game. For Sacred Heart-Griffin, the Cyclones offense was led by Ty Springer (2026; Lincoln Land CC Commit), who went 3-for-3 with a triple, two singles, three stolen bases, a run scored, and two RBIs. Will Pennell (2026; Lincoln Land CC Commit) had a fine game tossing 4.2 innings and striking out seven batters.

Down 6-5 in the seventh, Cayden Blakely (2027) hit a walk-off grand slam to propel the Spartans to a 9-6 victory. Jazarris Mackmore Jr (2027; Illinois Chicago; 3-for-4, 2B, R) and Lacey Rogers Jr. (2028; 3-for-4, 2B, RBI, 2 R) also had big days at the plate. Tyler Hemphill (2027) looked good in relief, going four innings, allowing two hits and no runs, while striking out six.

Neuqua Valley held on to defeat Naperville Central 5-4. Josh Repmann (2027) got the start on the mound going five strong innings, allowing three hits, three runs with only two being earned, and punching out 11. The Wildcats offense was powered by Emmitt Briner (2027; 2-for-3, HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, BB), Andrew Barkley (2026; 2-for-3, 2 R, HBP), and Zach Chiz (2027; 2-for-3, RBI, HBP), who all collected multiple hits.

Prairie Ridge took down Jacobs in a FVC matchup on Tuesday. RHP Owen Satterlee (2027) dominated in his start, tossing 6.2 innings, allowing four hits, one earned run, and struck out 10. Jack Dahlem (2026) had two hits including a double, Maddom McKim (2026) was a perfrct 2-for-2 with two runs scored.

SS Jory Crocker (2026; Arizona) had an RBI double and later crushed a three-run home run as Willowbrook rallied to defeat Hinsdale South 12-6. 1B Alek Ramey (2026; Rock Valley) doubled twice. CF Jake Bonino (2026; South Suburban) had two hits, including a triple. C Alex Rodriguez (2027) was 3-for-4 and 1B Ryan Dasbach (2026; St. Norbert) tripled in support of RHP Mikey Garner (2027), who worked five innings to notch the win for the Warriors (10-4).

Staunton took down Hillsboro 12-1. Lucas Coalson (2028) threw five strong innings with one run and eight strikeouts. Matt Overby paced the offense going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Cale Dugger (2028) added three knocks as well, including a triple and an RBI. Carter Legendre was 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Logan Tuetken was 2-for-4 with a double.

Tyler Wood added an inning of scoreless relief- while Jackson Franks and Gavin Wilburn each added two hits apiece. The Pioneers were also a perfect 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts.

Glenbard South scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning, sealing an 11–8 comeback victory over Fenton. Gavin Pogorzelski (2026) led the offense going 2-for-4 with a HR and three RBI. Tim Ewald (2026; 3-for-3, 2B, 2 R, HBP, 2 SB) and John Blackmore (2027; 3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R) collected three hits each, Adrian Miguel homered and walked twice, and Jason Anguiano collected two hits and three RBI for the Bison.

Richards took down Thornton Fractional South 3-0. Luis DeAvila fired seven strong innings with just one hit allowed, striking out 12. Carson Maranda was 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Ryan Golinski was 2-for-4 with a run scored - while Baha Hammad was 1-for-1 with an RBI, walk and a sac fly.

The Lancers moved to 3-0 in Southwestern Conference play with an 8 inning, 15-10 win over Collinsville. Connor Gray and Brody Lindeman each drove in 3 runs a piece. Kaedon Lane earned the win with 3 scoreless innings on the mound, including 4 strikeouts.

Reavis took down Evergreen Park 18-8 to improve to 10-6 on the year adn 5-0 in conference. Parker Zasada and Jonathan Liesen both went 1-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and three runs scored, Blake Stefanek paced the offense going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Juan Avila (2B, 3 RBI) and Michael Mendez (4 RBI) each added a hit.

Mt. Vernon took down Carbondale 11-1. Cale Maurer fired a complete game with one earned run, two hits and nine strikeouts. Ty Pierce went 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBIs.

Glenbrook South scored 5 runs in the 5th inning, but Glenbrook North answered with 5 of their own in the 6th leading to a Spartans 8-5 win over the Titans to even the series at 1 apiece. For the Titans, Charlie Krauss ('27) hit a 2 run home run and Clancy Rogers ('26) added an RBI double.

Francis W. Parker took down Lake Forest Academy 11-4. Christian Orozco led the offense going 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI, two walks, and two stolen bases. Leo Demetriou (2029) shoved out of the bullpen, going 3.1 hitless innings and striking out six. Demetriou also got on base three times in the contest.
