Iowa JUCO baseball is in full swing and, here at Prep Baseball Iowa, we wanted to provide a check-in on the scores from across the Iowa JUCO landscape over the first week of gameplay.

Within these weekly pieces, you will be able to find all the JUCO scores from across the state, as well as other news and notes across the state's JUCO landscape.

News & Notes

+ Southeastern sits at the top of the DII conference standings after a 5-0 week, including a sweep of Iowa Lakes, and is 25-8, 10-1 in conference play.  

+ Kirkwood places right behind them, going 4-0, now sitting at 31-3, looking to finish the sweep of Indian Hills today.  

+ Indian Hills splits a two-game set with Iowa Western, sitting at the top of the D1 conference standings. 

+ Northeast went 2-1 on the week, looking to finish the sweep over Ellsworth today, sitting at 22-14, 5-2 in conference play.  

+ Iowa Central 2-0 on the week, set to finish the series against Marshalltown today in a doubleheader, 27-4, 6-3 in conference. 

+ DMACC 3-0, looking to finish a sweep over Northeast today to place themselves back at .500. 

+ Kirkwood outfielder Wrigley Matthys capped off his week in style, hitting a walk-off grand slam against Indian Hills on Friday afternoon after going 6-for-13 with 12 RBIs, a double, four walks, and two home runs. 

+ DMACC's Brock Moore bounced back in a loud way, going 5-for-10, with 13 RBIs, one double, and three home runs. 

+ North Iowa's Justyn Rivera had a big performance against Iowa Lakes, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, three RBIs, and one double. 

+ Southeastern's James Nydegger went 8-for-18 with eight RBIs, and thre walks. 

+ Kirkwood RHP Adrian Broadus tossed four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and zero walks, while striking out nine. While RHP Drew Zemaitis tossed six innings of one-run ball, striking out six and walking none. 

+ RHP Hunter Cook for DMACC tossed five innings, allowing two runs, on one walk, seven hits, and seven strikeouts. 

+ Southeastern LHP Luke Scherrman came into relief, tossing 4.2 innings, allowing zero runs, on four hits, one walk, and seven strikeouts. 

+ Another arm from Southeastern, Isaac Flamino, tossed eight scoreless innings, allowing zero walks, six hits, and striking out eight.
