IHSA Daily Roundup: April 3rd

No. 14 Edwardsville defeated Jackson 4-2. The Tigers offense was led by Andrew McCutchen (2029), who hit a sacrifice fly, and Nathan Bukovac (2027) on his RBI bunt single. Bukovac also performed well on the bases by stealing four bags. The Tigers swiped a total of ten bases in today's contest, including three from Rhys Gierich (2027) and two from Zane Maxwell (2026). Tony Eberlin (2026) got the win and tossed six innings striking out 11 batters.

No. 14 Edwardsville lost to Eureka (MO) by the score of 10-2. Nick Chiarodo (2028) added a hit in the game with one RBI, while Nathan Bukovac (2027) went 2-for-3 in the game.

No. 16 St. Joseph Ogden defeated Rockridge 7-2. Will Haley (2026; Kankakee CC Commit) led the Spartans offense going 1-for-4 with a two-RBI single and a fielder's choice, which knocked in three RBIs. Cam Schluter (2026) had two walks and a sacrifice fly, which drove in two RBIs. Finn Miller (2027) went 2-for-3 with two singles, a run, and an RBI. Parker Fitch (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) pitched six strong innings and struck out five batters. Asher Pruemer (2026; Kaskaskia JC Commit) finished it off and struck out two of the three batters he faced.

No. 18 O'Fallon took down Blue Springs South, winning by a score of 6-2. Dylan Jantz got the ball to start the game, allowing one run in his four innings of work, while allowing one hit, four walks, and striking out five. Aiden Dunlap was strong in relief, allowing four hits, one run, and striking out one. Brayden Robertson (3-for-3, 2B, BB, RBI) was perfect at the plate the ball well at the plate in the win.

No. 24 Mascoutah shut down the Collinsville bats en route to a 9-0 victory. Brandon Klein (2029) and Quinn Ford (2026) teamed up for a combined no-hitter, allowing only three man on base all game. Klein got the start, going six innings, only allowing on runner on via HBP, and striking out three. Ford pitched a shutout inning in relief, walking two and striking out one. There was plenty of production at the plate for Mascoutah, with Nolan Lebert (2026, Olivet Nazarene; 2-for-3, 3B, BB, 2 R, RBI), Gabe James (2027; 2-for-4, 2 R), and Darren Klein (2027; 3-for-3, BB, 3 R, RBI) all having multi-hit games at the plate. CJ Epps (2027; 1-for-3, 3B, BB, 3 RBIs) and Carson Moll (2026, Rend Lake; 1-for-2, BB, R, 3 RBI) each drove in three runs of their own on the way to the win.

Alden-Hebron took down Ashton-Franklin 16-1 in game 1 of a doubleheader. Caleb Linneman led the Giants offense by going 3-for-4 with a triple, two singles, stolen base, three runs, and four RBIs. Jack Stewart went 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs, and three RBIs. Christian Nunez went 1-for-3 with a walk, single, RBI groundout, a run, and three RBIs. Other key players include Kyle Linneman (1-for-3, 1B, BB, SB, 3R), Logan Klein (BB, SB, R), J.P. Stewart (1-for-2, 1B, BB, SB, 2R), and Jacob Gritmaker (2BB, R), who all knocked in an RBI. Kyle Linneman took it the distance with a four-inning complete game. He struck out three batters and only gave up one run.

Andrew took down Richards 7-1. Jason Rediger (2026) led the T-Bolt offense going 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBI, and a run scored.

Ashton-Franklin Center responded huge in game 2 of a doubleheader and defeated Alden-Hebron 22-6. Zac Rockwood led the offense going a perfect 2-for-2 with a double, single, walk, hit by pitch, stolen base, two runs, and four RBIs. Otto Horner was another key contributor going 2-for-3 with two singles, two walks, two stolen bases, four runs, and two RBIs. Horner also had a nice relief performance on the mound when he tossed two shutout innings and struck out four batters.

Belleville East shutout Ladue 2-0. Aidan Briscoe (2028) earns the win with five innings pitched, four hits, and strikig out seven. JJ Cates (2027) picked up the save, pitching two scoreless to close out the game.

Dunlap defeated Hendersonville 6-2. The Eagles offense was led by Simon Malcolm (2026), who went 2-for-4 with a double, single, stolen base, a run, and two RBIs. Eli Michanicou (2027) went 3-for-3 with three singles, a walk, two stolen bases, and an RBI. Isaac Babbs (2027) went 2-for-3 with a double, single, sacrifice fly, a run, and an RBI. Other contributors include Pierce Placher (2027) and Truman Tyra (2026), who each knocked in an RBI single. Isaac Babbs threw four shutout innings and struck out three batters. Ryder Rennette (2028) had a nice one-inning relief appearance by striking out the final two batters of the game.

Freeburg defeated North Clay 15-5. Cohen Merrill (2026) paced the offense in the win going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a homer, and five RBI.

Freeburg took down Belleville West 4-0. Beau Breyman (2027) went 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in the win. Liam Scaiefe earned the win on the mound, tossing six scoreless, scattering four hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Hall defeated Orion by the score of 13-2. Braden Curran (2026; Augustana) went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI, three runs scored and a walk. He also tossed five innings on the mound with six strikeouts, two walks, no earned runs, and three hits. Geno Ferrari (2027) added two hits in the game with a double, one RBI, two runs scored and a walk, while Luke Bryant (2027) added a hit with one RBI, two runs scored and two walks. Noah Plym (2027) led the team in RBI (4), also collecting two hits, one being a double and a walk.

Herscher defeated Seneca 14-1. Tanner Jones (2026) led the way on both sides of the ball, going 3-for-4 at the dish, and then punching out six batters on the mound over his three innings pitched.

Hononegah defeated Sycamore by the score of 3-1. Max Miller (2027) went 2-for-3 in the game with a double and one run scored, while John Frake (2026), Zach Nett (2027, 2B), and Grant Statler (2027; Eastern Illinois) each tallied a hit and one RBI in the game. On the mound, Angelo Cassata (2026) tossed 6.2 innings, struck out seven, walked two, allowed no earned runs and five hits.

Monticello defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley by the score of 6-3. Heyden Romano (2026) tossed 3.2 innings on the mound, tallied nine strikeouts, one walk, two runs and one hit. Zeke Young (2027) tossed 3.1 innings in relief and struckout five while walking one, allowing one run and three hits. Grant Kiger (2027) homered in the game, tallying two RBI and one run scored, and Jake Motsegood (2027) added two hits, one run scored and one walk.

Neuqua Valley defeated Scotts Hill (TN) 14-4. Emmitt Briner (2027) tossed a complete game (five innings) with two strikeouts. Every starter in the Wildcat lineup recorded a hit in the victory.

Normal U-High defeated East Peoria by the score of 2-0. Griffin Meyer (2026) and Caleb Hornbrook (2026; Lake Land JC) each tallied a pair of hits in the game, with Hornbrook tallying one RBI and one run scored. Isaac Schroeder (2028) started on the mound and tossed four innings, tallying five strikeouts, no walks, no runs and only one hit. For East Peoria, Auggie Lohnes (2026; Illinois Central JC) tallied a double in the game.

RBLW defeated Peoria Christian 6-1. D. Hunter earned the win on the mound, tossing a complete game. Henry Koehler (2026) drove in two and stole two bases in the win for the Rockets.

Rolling Meadows took down Streamwood 8-4. Quinn Hextall (2028), Tony Romanacce (2026), Jack O'Callaghan (2027), and Josh Rappa (2026) each recorded two hits in the win. Joe Brigham (2026) tossed two and a third scoreless in the win, allowing no hits while punching out two.
