2026 Spring Team Preview: Fairfield Warde (CT)
FAIRFIELD, Ct. - With more than 60 college commits to go along with two state titles and three conference championships, Brett Conner has seen his share of success since taking over as the head coach of Fairfield Warde in 2016.
“We are heavily invested in our youth feeder program,” explained Conner, whose team last season finished 19-6, losing in the Class LL state semifinals, the fourth year in a row the Mustangs made it to the Final Four, winning it all in 2022 and 2023. “We build that team before they even step foot into the high school. Then we get kids that bloom late. We have found it has brought consistency to the program which has allowed us to be successful.”
Conner appreciates his role in charge of it all.
“It’s been a joy and a lot of fun to be part of this program,” noted Conner, whose team GPA last season was 3.9. “We’re known for having disciplined players that carry respect for others. They’re hard working and bring a lot of energy. We’re very much a program-oriented team. Selfless over selfish. The guys understand their roles and there are no big distractions.”
Jimmy Dobbs, the eighth-ranked senior catcher in New England, is expected to move to the outfield this season where Conner believes he will play in college at Maryland next year. All-State a year ago, Dobbs will be replaced behind the plate by senior Nick Crosley, an all-conference player a season ago.
Zach Stellato or Todd Emerek, both seniors, will be at first base with Seton Hall commit Michael Marciano, the fifth-rated second baseman in New England, at second after earning all-conference honors last year. Duke signee Carson Dodder, the 10th-ranked 2026 shortstop in New England, will be at short after taking home all-state recognition in 2025.
Rochester recruit Henry Vincent, the 27th-rated senior third baseman in New England who was all-conference a year ago, will be at third with Joe Reyes, the 46th-ranked 2026 shortstop in New England and a Georgian Court University commit, having the ability to play anywhere in the infield.
Jake Coppola, the 54th-rated junior outfielder in New England, will join Dobbs in the outfield along with senior Kyle Hios. Josh Reyes, the 68th-rated senior outfielder in New England who is also a Georgian Court signee like his twin brother, brings depth with senior Andrew Robilotto, a Western Connecticut State commit, at DH or first base.
All-conference pitcher Colin Stowell, the 102-ranked senior right-handed pitcher in New England, is the ace of the staff with the Endicott signee getting plenty of help from the likes of Dylan McDonald, the 281st-ranked 2026 in New England, senior Tommy Galvin, junior right-handers Andrew Pisseri and Matteo Armstrong along with Emerick, a left-hander.
With 18 seniors on the roster, Conner is confident this could be a great season.
“I like our senior leadership,” Conner said. “There aren’t enough innings for them all, so when you get the opportunity you’ve got to make the most of it. They all have a winning mentality and a lot of varsity experience. We’ve got three big D-I players to lead us with other players that are just as good.”
It is all about producing runs according to the head coach.
“The key is if we hit,” Conner explained. “Last year we averaged nine runs a game and our goal is to get 10 runs a game. We bring back all of our pitching and if they keep us in the game we should have a lot of success.
“We’re always good defensively,” Conner concluded. “We’re a very aggressive team that will put pressure on the other team. Let’s see where it all takes us.”
