The Prep Baseball California High School Hitter of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a California high school player from the previous week. Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week. If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays.
While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.
WEEK 6 HITTER OF THE WEEK
2027 1B Jake Kim - Harvard Westlake HS - UCLA Commit
With the Wolverines across the country facing some of the top high school competition in the nation at the NHSI tournament, Kim took his prodigious offensive ability to another level.
Over 11 at-bats against high-level arms, all Kim did was go 6-11 with two massive home runs, hammer three doubles, and drive in an impressive nine runs for the Wolverines offense. For good measure to round out his electric showing at the plate, Kim took four walks in the tournament, making him a remarkable 10 for 15 in reaching base for the event. For the season, Kim is hitting over .500, facing high-level arms on a game-by-game basis with Harvard Westlake's notorious strong schedule of non-league and Mission League games.
