The Prep Baseball California High School Hitter of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a California high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays. 

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

WEEK 5 PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2026 RHP Jake Brande, Rancho Christian HS - Cal Poly SLO signee

Coming off a week that saw Brande throw a perfect game in his last outing, it was going to be hard to top that, but Brande came oh so close. 

In his second league start Brande carried a perfect game into the fifth inning before surrendering a two-out hit as Rancho Christian would go on to win the game in mercy rule fashion in five innings with Brande locking up his second consecutive shutout victory. 

The Cal Poly SLO signee was once again masterful going 5.0 IP with eight strikeouts, no walks, and just the one hit surrendered. In his two league starts (both five inning mercy wins), Brande has totalled 15 strikeouts against zero walks and is sporting a 0.00 ERA. On the season he has thrown 15 innings with 25 strikeouts, one walk, one earned run good for a 0.47 ERA. He has a 72% strike percentage on the season.
