Gulf Shores (6) vs. Bob Jones (5)
Gulf Shores earned a 6-5 walk-off win over Bob Jones on Thursday, scoring the decisive run in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from John William Nix. Bob Jones jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the first inning behind RBI hits from Cole Spanier, Joshua Wilhide, and Elijah Degante. Gulf Shores chipped away and eventually tied the game in the fifth, capitalizing on a wild pitch and an RBI single from Price Stephens. Stephens led the Dolphins offensively with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, while Jacob O’Bryan also added three hits as Gulf Shores finished with 10 in the game. Nix was outstanding in relief, tossing four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Spanier and Degante each collected two hits for Bob Jones, while Wilhide and Degante drove in two runs apiece.
Mountain Brook (8) vs. Hewitt-Trussville (1)
Mountain Brook pulled away late to defeat Hewitt-Trussville 8-1 on Thursday, breaking the game open with a six-run sixth inning. The Spartans got on the board early with a solo home run from Luke Houser in the first before taking a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an RBI single from Paul Barnett. Mountain Brook then erupted in the sixth, capitalizing on timely hits and walks to extend the lead. Jude Davidson earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. Houser and Barnett each drove in two runs to lead the offense, while the Spartans showed patience at the plate with eight walks and added pressure on the bases with four stolen bases.
Briarwood Christian (5) vs. Chelsea (1)
Briarwood Christian pulled away late to defeat Chelsea 5-1 in extra innings on Thursday. The Lions broke a scoreless tie in the sixth on a wild pitch, but Chelsea answered in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly from Jaxson Dohrman to even the game at 1-1. Briarwood responded in the eighth, taking the lead on an error before Brandt Aho delivered a three-run home run to extend the advantage. Houston Hartsfield set the tone on the mound with six strong innings, allowing one run while striking out seven. Emerson Yates earned the win in relief with two scoreless innings. Aho led the offense with three RBIs, while Bradley Faulkner collected two hits for Chelsea in the loss.
