Mt. Carmel vs. Torrey Pines

Vinnie Alfino, Manager, Content & Operations

2026 LHP/1B Jason Jutronich, Torrey Pines - UCSB Signee

With plenty of eyes on him, Jutronich delivered a well put-together performance, striking out 11 over 5 shutout innings while allowing just two hits. The left-hander came out strong, working 88-90 mph and touching 91 in the first inning, before settling into the 85-88 range through innings two through five. He showed plus command from start to finish, attacking the zone with confidence and creating late swing decisions. His closed-off landing adds deception, and the ball jumps on hitters earlier than expected. Jutronich mixed a sharp 74-77 mph curveball with a firm 79-82 mph changeup, giving him three quality offerings he could land for strikes or use to miss bats. The length in his frame stands out, and with added strength already evident — up from topping at 86 this time last year — there’s reason to believe more velocity gains could still be ahead. He even accounted for the game’s only run, driving in the lone tally with a barreled RBI single through the 5-6 hole in the first inning.
