VHSL Class 6 Previews: Region C
Alexandria City Titans
2025 Record: 16-9
The 2025 season came to an end just one win short of a state title appearance against Hayfield. They only lost a few pieces from that team and look to make a bigger run in 2026. The Titans return seven hitters and seven arms that were vital pieces to their 16-9 season last year. Liam Jones (Bucknell) will be a huge loss, as he was the go to arm in big games for the Titans. The health of Jason Kruczek (ECU) will be important as he steps into the frontline role as a senior. If he can stay healthy throughout the course of the season, then his ability to get outs and perform in big games will help this team make a deep run. They bring back a bulk of their lineup in JD Bowden (Lincoln), Robert Carothers-Ruiz (Lincoln), Tommy Kocot, Cooper Ovalle (Allegheny), Connor Pollock, Nico Rohrbach, and Cameron Trail. Dylan Klotz, Whit Pollock, Cruz Reber, and Turner Sawyer are some other names that could carve out significant roles for this team. There is experience and talent on this roster, but will they have enough pitching depth to make it through a region that seems to be improving year after year?

Edison Eagles
2025 Record: 12-10
The Eagles finished with a 12-10 record last spring and fell in the first round of regionals to West Potomac. They bring back an experienced team with eight returning starters and four arms. Matthias Alden (City College of New York), John Dobson, and Jackson Naumovich (Westminster) all threw the bulk of the innings and will do a lot of the same in their senior season. Alden and Dobson were big producers offensively, and joining them are Derek Potts (Baldwin Wallace), Nathan Roeschlein, and Miguel Zayas (Westminster) who helped with a lot of the offensive production. Demir Doven, Finn Conger, Zyler Munoz, and Gabe Talente have a chance to make an impact on this team with this older group. With a veteran group, they look to make a run in the region this spring.

Fairfax Lions
2025 Record: 10-14
The Lions picked up some momentum in the back half of the year and made it past the first round of regionals but fell to West Springfield in the quarterfinals. They bring back some of that experience in 2026. Ryan Hartle (North Central Texas JC) totaled some big innings as a junior and will do a lot of the same for the Lions this spring. Ethan Lynch, Henry Mann, Jonathan Nguyen, Chase Patterson, and Clayton Smith all return to the lineup. Having offensive pieces will be key, but finding some mound depth behind Hartle will be important. With another year under their belt, they help to make steady improvements this spring.

Hayfield Hawks
2025 Record: 20-7
It was a state tournament appearance for the Hawks in 2025, but their season ended in the quarterfinals at the hands of James Madison. They return a lot of that production for 2026, including eight starters. Jacob Bueno (Coppin State), Nolan Phillips (Marymount), Jack Ross (Marymount), Zach Suga, and Nolan Taylor (Juniata) headline the senior class that are back for another year. Mason Archer was a regular contributor as a sophomore, and he is back in the heart of the lineup. Braden Feaster, Noah Laster, Drew Olsen, and Connor Watson are some other names that could be contributors this spring, especially with Watson and Laster's contributions on the mound. They have plenty of offensive depth, but with only three arms returning, is there enough experience back on the mound to get them through a tough Region 6C?

Lake Braddock Bruins
2025 Record: 14-12
The Bruins were one win short of making a state tournament appearance in 2025, falling to West Springfield in the region semifinals. They bring back an experienced group looking to make a run again this spring. Evan George (Marymount), Brayden Gibson (Geneva), Ryan Harding, Henry Mahns, CJ Prentiss, and Matt Schaeb (CNU) all return as key offensive pieces. Jack Cavallario (Westminster), Hudson Drumm, and Beau Padgett (Ferrum) are three arms that saw significant time and return to the pitching staff. This is a group that finds a way to put it all together each year and could do a lot of the same to make a run in the region.

West Potomac Wolverines
2025 Record: 10-13
It was a 10-13 record for the Wolverines, and they brought back talent that could change things around this spring. Austin Dean (Virginia Tech) is a big arm that they lost to graduation, but Grant Williams and Bennett Winkelfoos could potentially step into big roles on the mound this spring. Barrett Baker (Drew), Banks Holman (Denison), Max Melzer, Joey Qutub (Chesapeake JC), and Connor Winkelfoos return to the offense with a veteran presence. Alex Cortes and Rhys Meyer are two juniors that could get in the mix on the infield as well. There is a good mix of talent and upperclass leadership (see Baker and Holman) on this team that could make a run in the region, if the pitching staff gets off to a good start.

West Springfield Spartans
2025 Record: 24-4
It was a heartbreaker in the state semifinals with a late inning loss to the eventual state champions, Gainesville. This team will look a lot different with the graduations of Jake Getty (Ursinus), Patrick Sido (Mary Baldwin), Tyler Harvey, William O’Connor, Milo Thompson (Shepherd), and Kaleb Williams (Liberty), who were major contributors. Aaron Dierks (South Carolina) returns as the frontline arm and will be key in how far this team goes. Tanner Smith is another arm that returns with some experience on the mound. Jaylan Achoki (Bryant & Stratton), Brady Davies, Jack Halfhill, Gavin Price, Justin White, and Zach Zabko (Emory & Henry) are some names that return to the offense. The run production will be a thing to watch along with some mound depth questions behind Dierks and Smith.
