Boise Preseason ID: Quick Hits | Underclass
February 24, 2026
BOISE, ID – The Boise Preseason ID, one of the premier events on the Prep Baseball Idaho calendar, was held on Sunday, February 22 at Bihsop Kelly High School. The one-day showcase brought together a talented group of prospects from the 2026–2030 classes, each looking to establish an early evaluation heading into the spring season.
Participants took part in a pro-style workout that included batting practice tracked by TrackMan and Blast Motion, 60-yard dash testing powered by VALD Performance, and a full defensive evaluation. Pitchers threw bullpens tracked by TrackMan, allowing our staff to capture detailed metrics including pitch velocity, spin rate, and horizontal and vertical movement.
We begin our Post Event Coverage of the Boise Preseason ID with the Quick Hits, highlgihting the players who made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff.

Chase Casagrande 1B / 3B / Bishop Kelly, ID / 2028
The sophomore had himself a day at the Boise Preseason ID, putting up massive numbers at the plate followed by on of the more impressive bullpen sessions of the day. Offensively, after gettin settled in during his BP Session, the present power tool was on full display, leaving the yard multiple times with a top Exit Velocity of 103.7 mph, along with an 85.1 mph Average Exit Velocity. On the mound, he showed of his projectable tools with a two pitch mix that featured a fastball and slider, with his fastball running up to 85.1 mph with a developing slider that we expect to only continue to tighten and improve command. This is a sophomore to keep on your radar this Spring for Bishop Kelly. |

Dax Fizer C / RHP / Mountain View, ID / 2028Another sophomore to announce his presence and improved on almost every metric at the Boise Preseason ID, highlighted by his Event Best 1.95 Pop Time to go with his 74 mph Catcher Velocity. During his BP Session, he flashed his pull side power potential with a 94.5 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 367 ft. Max Distance. This is another player coming from a deep Mountain View program that seems to just be scratching the surface with his 6’0/172.2 frame. |
|
Zane Garr 3B / OF / Bishop Kelly, ID / 2028One of the more physical athletes at the Boise Preseason ID, in his first time out with us his game was on full display at the plate after getting settled in and showing his ability to make an adjustment mid round to find the barrel with authority. His 100.1 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity was produced with relative ease, leading you to believe there is much more in the tank. Keep an eye out for Garr as a player who seems to also just be scratching the surface of what's to come from his game. |

Gus Hunter OF / RHP / Boise, ID / 2028One of the biggest winners from the Boise Preseason ID was Prep Baseball Verified 6’1/183.6 sophomore, Gus Hunter, who put together a loud performance at the plate followed by one of the Top Fastball Velocities of the event at 87.1 mph. On the defensive side, he showed off his athletic actions through the ball with fluid exchange into his New Personal Best Outfield Velocity at 87 mph ranking him in the Top 3 of the event. His day didn't stop there as he toed the rubber during his TrackMan Bullpen Session, where he showed off his improved fastball velocity along with his trending secondary mix with much more to come as he improves his command and feel. Keep an eye on Hunter as a player who we expect to be a key contributor for Boise High this Spring. |
|
Oliver Jacobs 1B / RHP / Cole Valley Christian Schools, ID / 2030One of the few 2030’s to attend the Boise Preseason ID, Jacobs was a player that made an impression on the Prep Baseball Staff with his athletic actions and present 6’2 (and growing) frame. Though the numbers are still coming, the projectable actions are there and he will be a player we will be looking forward to seeing his game trend over the next 4+ years. |
|
Cooper Schneidt SS / 2B / Mountain View, ID / 2028One of the highest risers in the West Region over the past year, Schneidt was a standout at the Super Sophomore Games this past Fall and has only continued to refine his game on both sides of the ball. The improved fluidity through his defensive game with easy lateral range to go with his consistent 90+ mph arm, proves that he will be able to hang on the left side of the field at the next level and beyond. On a brisk day, he proved his game is becoming more consistent, highlighted by his 90.7 mph Average TrackMan Exit Velocity in a line drive filled Batting Practice Session. Keep an eye on this sophomore to assert himself as on of the top players in Idaho this Spring, regardless of class. |

Jaiden Schranz RHP / 3B / Middleton, ID / 2029Arguably the biggest winner of the the Boise Preseason ID, Jaiden Schranz had himself a day, finding himself at or near the top of most the categories that applied to him. |
Crew Stringer SS / 2B / Fruitland High School, ID / 2029A player we didn’t have a ton of information about heading into the event, Stringer made his impression on the Prep Baseball Staff right out of the gate with his present, advanced defensive actions on full display with easy flow through the ball at the Boise Preseason ID. The athleticism throughout his game also translated on to the offensive side of the ball where he showed off his consistent, line drive producing swing that we project to continue to improve on his 90 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity as he adds size and strength to his developing frame. This Jr. Sockeye / Fruitland product is going to be a high follow player for us over the next four years. |
