It was a great start to the season for Lynchburg-Clay sophomore Quin Wells.

Wells, who as a freshman scored the only run for Lynchburg-Clay in a 4-1 loss to Graham in the Division V state semifinals last season, drove in nine, stole nine bases and walked three times.

If that wasn’t enough, the 194th-ranked sophomore in the state tossed a perfect game in a five-inning win over Fairfield Leesburg for the Prep Baseball 10th-ranked D-V team. Wells fanned 10 and threw 71 percent of his pitches for strikes.

YOUTH SHINES
