Bayside 1, Lakeland 0

The Bayside Marlins outlasted the Lakeland Cavaliers 1-0 in a tight pitching duel on Monday. Zach Schilmoeller dominated on the mound for Bayside, striking out 11 over six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. The game’s only run came in the third inning on a Keanu Kuhre RBI groundout. Despite a strong 12-strikeout performance from Josiah Joyner, Lakeland couldn’t generate enough offense to break through.

Courtland 2, Colonial Forge 0

This one was a pitcher’s duel between junior RHP Ryan Hoburg of Courtland and junior LHP Bryce Arbogast of Colonial Forge. The third inning proved to be the turning point. In the top half, Colonial Forge’s 7-8-9 hitters all reached base, loading the bases with no outs for the top of the order. Hoburg was up for the challenge, striking out the next three hitters to escape the jam. In the bottom half of the inning, senior Maddux Rothell came through with a two-strike single to drive in a run, which would be all Courtland needed. They added an unearned run in the sixth following a defensive miscue and secured a 2-0 victory behind a complete game shutout from Hoburg.

Herndon 10, South Lakes 1

The Herndon Hornets won big against the South Lakes Seahawks 10-1. Herndon jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first thanks to a two-run home run from ‘26 Charles Morgan and an RBI double from ‘26 Chase Brown. ‘26 Hayden Rita and ‘27 Noah Wantuck were also big contributors for the Hornets, with Rita throwing five innings of one run ball, and Wantuck tallying multiple hits. For the Seahawks, ‘28 Justin Collins had two hits.

Lake Braddock 6, Alexandria City 3

This Potomac District showdown was a pitcher’s duel early between Alexandria City senior Jason Kruczek (East Carolina) and Braddock senior Jack Cavallario (Westminster). Both teams traded runs in the third and the game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth when Braddock senior infielder Matthew Schaeb (CNU) mashed a grand slam to put Braddock ahead. He would tack on another RBI in the sixth as Braddock ended up winning the game 6-3. Connor Pollock had 2 hits for Alexandria City and Kruczek struck out 7 in 3 hitless innings.

Cosby 6, Monacan 5

Early on, it looked like it was going to be all Monacan as they jumped out to a 5–0 lead in the top of the third. Senior Roanoke commit Braeden Shores, senior Nathaniel Taylor, and junior Grayson Morris all delivered RBI singles in the inning to give Monacan a comfortable cushion. From that point on, the offense went quiet for Monacan and the comeback was on for Cosby. A three-run fifth inning was jumpstarted by a senior Mary Washington commit Tyler Tapscott double, a senior Ryan Higgins single, and a few defensive miscues that brought Cosby within one. Cosby tied the game in the sixth when Tapscott lifted a fly ball to left that was lost in the sun, allowing a run to score. They then took the lead on a bases-loaded walk. That was all they needed, as junior Nicolas Roberts shut the door in the seventh to secure the comeback win.

Broadway 5, Turner Ashby 1

This one was all Colby Fesler, all night long. Seven innings of strong work on the mound from the junior right hander. Fesler allowed three hits, one unearned run, two walks, and ten strikeouts. The Gobblers scored all five runs in the fourth inning, capitalizing on four walks and three timely hits during that inning. There were only min e combined hits on the night between both team, with all of them being singles. The walks happened to be the separator, with the Knights waking eight total Broadway hitters, while Fesler walked only two TA hitters.

Spotswood 2, East Rockingham 0

There wasn’t much offense to go around in this one, as this was a pitching duel to the end. Ty Howard was the player of the night as he limited East Rockingham to two hits in seven shutout innings. The Trailblazers took advantage of an error early and a walk late that led to their two runs. Kayden Gibson gave East Rockingham a quality start and a chance late for a comeback.

McLean 5, Yorktown 2

The McLean Highlanders took a close one against the Yorktown Patriots, winning 5-2. The Highlanders were led by their dominant pitching, with ‘28 Alex Inget, ‘26 Dan Ockerman (Georgetown), and ‘28 Charlie Coats combining to allow zero earned runs. ‘26 Reid Turner (Shenandoah) and ‘26 JW Riggins (Georgetown) both had good days at the plate for the Highlanders, reaching base multiple times at the top of the order. For Yorktown, ‘26 Aidan McCracken (St. Mary’s (MD)) and ‘26 JD Rizzo (USC-Beaufort) both had good performances.

Mills Godwin 10, Patrick Henry (Ashland) 6

Mills Godwin took control of this one early with a five run explosion in the early innings. Jacob Babcock (James Madison), Carter Donham, and Alex Boyd (Roanoke) contributed to the offense for Mills Godwin. Aiden McNamara gave them a quality start on the mound. The Patriots made a comeback effort late, taking advantage of some walks, but fell just short.

Cosby 8, Deep Run 3

Deep Run came out the gates hot, scoring 3 runs in the first, but the offense went silent after that. Cosby would trail until the 5th inning, when the Titans tied it up at 3-3 on a Tyler Tapscott (Mary Washington) bases clearing double. Cosby would once again have a big inning, scoring five runs in the top of the sixth. That burst of runs was started off by a Liam Crowe single to give them the lead, and the big inning was capped off by another Tapscott double. The Mary Washington commit had three doubles on the night and drove in four. Blake LaMattina came on in relief and worked three near flawless innings, punching seven of the ten hitters he faced and only allowed one runner.
