NOTABLE RECAPS FROM FRIDAY

#16 Crimson Cliffs (1) vs. #9 Desert Hills (8)

The Desert Hills Thunder utilized a dominant performance on the mound and a barrage of extra-base hits to overwhelm Crimson Cliffs in a convincing 8–1 victory. Harmon Skeen set the tone early, tossing three scoreless innings to earn the win while helping his own cause with a run-scoring double and three RBIs. Roah Wall provided a masterful relief appearance, striking out seven over four frames to completely silence the Mustangs' offense. The Thunder’s lineup was relentless, featuring five doubles from Skeen, Wall, Boston Shaffer, Jaxton Tolman, and Kobey Smith, keeping the pressure constant on the basepaths. While Crimson Cliffs found a spark through a multi-hit day from Ty Ransom and an RBI from Junior Hagwood, they struggled to find a rhythm against the Thunder’s elite pitching duo, who combined for 11 strikeouts to secure the dominant home win.

#4 Pleasant Grove (3) vs. #2 American Fork (9)

The American Fork Cavemen flexed their offensive muscle to secure a commanding 9–3 victory over Pleasant Grove, fueled by a pair of home runs and a dominant start on the mound. Cruz Adams anchored the Cavemen’s defense, racking up nine strikeouts over five focused innings to earn the win, while also helping his own cause with a solo shot at the plate. Boston Jones provided the afternoon's biggest offensive highlight, finishing 2-for-3 with a towering home run and a double to drive in two runs. Pleasant Grove managed to stay within striking distance early behind a two-RBI double from Conner Ybarra, but they were ultimately unable to overcome the Cavemen's relentless pressure and the clinical relief of Hanks Jacobsen, who preserved the lead with two hitless frames. Despite a strong nine-strikeout effort from Keaton Nordick, the Vikings' three defensive errors and limited hit count allowed American Fork to maintain control from the first pitch to the final out. We are going to miss these two top programs competing in the same region this year, but it was a great night to see them collide once again.

#21 Bear River (7) vs. #20 Ridgeline (5)

The Bear River Bears outlasted the Ridgeline Riverhawks in a grit-filled 7–5 victory, relying on a disciplined approach at the plate and a strong collective effort from the mound. Ethan Higgs anchored the early innings before handing the ball to Oaklin Martin, who delivered four masterful innings of relief with five strikeouts to shut the door and earn the win. Offensively, the Bears capitalized on four Ridgeline errors and a series of deep counts, fueled by a multi-hit performance from Stephen Starnes and a run-scoring double by Chipper Hawes. Despite the Ridgeline bats finding a spark through extra-base hits from Maddux Jensen and Easton Hammond, Bear River’s defensive poise and Martin's efficiency in the closing stages proved to be the difference in the hard-fought contest.

Top Performers

Orem (5) vs. #18 Provo (1)

The Orem Tigers relied on a dominant performance from Coulson Rich on the mound to secure a 5–1 victory over the Provo Bulldogs. Rich was nearly untouchable on Friday, tossing a complete-game two-hitter while racking up eight strikeouts to keep the Bulldogs' offense grounded. Orem’s lineup provided plenty of support, highlighted by a towering solo home run from Luke Jones, who finished with a stellar three-hit day. Beck Berge, Mack Ellison, and Dalton Cox each added doubles to the attack, capitalizing on a Provo defense that struggled with four errors throughout the contest. Provo found a brief spark through an RBI single from Drevin Christensen, but they were unable to solve Rich in a game defined by the Tigers' efficiency and elite command on the bump.

Top Performers

Copper Hills (7) vs. #23 Bingham (5)

The Copper Hills Grizzlies showcased their offensive efficiency and a shutdown bullpen to edge past the Bingham Miners in a hard-fought 7–5 victory to avoid the series sweep. Gage Lintz was a constant spark plug for the Grizzlies, finishing 2-for-3 with a triple, a double, and three runs scored, while Kooper Beebe was perfect at the plate with a three-hit afternoon. While the Miners put significant pressure on the basepaths—swiping a staggering ten bases led by Porter Larsen and Jaxon Sisam—they struggled to find the equalizer once Bryant Shaw entered the game. Shaw was absolute nails in relief, tossing three hitless innings with four strikeouts to slam the door and earn the win. Despite a steady start from Noah DeVroom and run-scoring efforts from Cain Stoker and Paxton Larsen, the Grizzlies' ability to manufacture runs via sacrifice flies and timely extra-base hits allowed them to secure the high-intensity road win.

  • Gage Lintz (Copper Hills): 2-for-3, 3 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 BB, 1 SB
  • Kooper Beebe (Copper Hills): 3-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 2B, 1 HBP
