The high school baseball season is officially underway. This is our favorite time of the year and we can’t wait to cover the state from now until the state championship. Be sure to to be tuned in daily for content on the season.

Everything high school baseball related will be on the GHSA tab on our website. It can be found HERE. This will include the Power 25, Classification Rankings, weekly scout blogs and more.

Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

North Oconee @ East Forsyth

Score: North Oconee win, 4-1

Standouts:

Wyatt Bull, RHP, 2026, North Oconee

Peyton Little, OF, 2026, North Oconee

Grant Barden, RHP, 2027, East Forsyth

Key Moments: In what was expected to be a pitching duel, Wyatt Bull and Grant Barden lived up to the bill with both going 5+ IP with strong results. Bull would earn the W, going 6.0 IP without an earned run and 7 strikeouts. Key knocks from Peyton Little and JT Doster helped put runners on with some small ball success to score the winning runs in the end.

Ian’s Takeaway: This is a highly anticipated series between #1 and #2 in Region 4A-8, and the Titans showed their experience in a huge win to cut the region lead to just one game. Pitching depth is among the best in the state for North Oconee regardless of classification, and having your ace for game one is always a luxury. Advanced base running and capitalizing on mistakes only adds to the ways the Titans can win games after showing an impressive offense so far this spring. East Forsyth and their scrappy brand of baseball will win you a ton of games and show why they lead the region currently. Quality at-bats 1-9 in the lineup led by Brooks Smallwood and Boone Blanton at the top. Expect a ton of energy on Friday night in Bogart as the series closes with a doubleheader for the region lead.

Northgate @ Maynard Jackson

Score: Northgate win, 2-0

Standouts:

Sam Marvin, RHP, 2026, Northgate

Tristan Jordan, C, 2027, Northgate

Gabe Bowne, OF, 2028, Northgate

Charlie Schrope, RHP, 2026, Maynard Jackson

Stanley Matthews, 3B, 2027, Maynard Jackson

Key Moments: Sam Marvin was locked in from the jump on the mound as he tossed a complete game shutout while striking out 13 and walking none. The Vikings scratched across a run in the 3rd off an error and a passed ball to take an early lead. Northgate would also put up another run behind a Gabe Bowne 2-out RBI single in the 4th and went on to win by a final score of 2-0.

Avery’s Takeaway: The Vikings stay hot on the year as they extend their record to 17-2. Sam Marvin is a huge piece on the mound for this team and it showed as he went the distance in a win (7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 13 K). The lineup is upper class heavy while seeing significant contributions from some sophomores as well. Junior Sam Lowe and a pair of sophomores in Gabe Bowne and Ledger Clements had hits as well. This is a well-coached group that will find ways to scratch across runs whether that be small ball or timely knocks. Charlie Schrope threw well for the Jags as he went 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. Stanley Matthews had a couple of good swings and looked the part at the hot corner. Maynard will look to bounce back from a tough non-region loss as they lead their region nearing the end of the month.
