2026 CHSAA Players of the Week: March 16-21
March 23, 2026
Each week during the high school season, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff will be announcing our 'Player of the Week' award for that particular week. Numerous players from across the state continue to perform and put up numbers on a week-to-week basis, though only one athlete can take home the 'hitter' or 'pitcher' award each week. Below you'll see which players have earned our 'Player of the Week' honors this spring season.
NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches and others from around our state. If you are a interested in nominating a player, please contact Marc Wagner ([email protected]).

CHSAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: MARCH 16th-21st
PITCHER OF THE WEEK:
|
Gunnar Garrison RHP / 1B / Eaton, CO / 2026Garrison was an easy choice for this week’s award after piling up 25 strikeouts over 11 innings, allowing just one earned run on one walk and four hits. His first outing came against the defending 4A state champion Golden Demons, where he struck out 11 over five innings while running the fastball up to 96 mph with our scouting staff in attendance. He also carried a no-hitter through four innings in that game. Garrison followed it up with another dominant performance against Lamar, tossing six innings with 14 strikeouts, 0 ER, 0 BB, and just two hits allowed. The 2024 Future Games alum is one to watch closely this spring, as his developing velocity could continue to boost his 2026 draft stock. He’s consistently shown a high level of competitiveness on the mound, backed by an evolving arsenal that features a high-velocity fastball (~2600 rpm), a swing-and-miss slider (~2500 rpm), and a deceptive splitter he continues to gain feel for. Garrison has a commitment to Arizona State University in his back pocket as well.

HITTER OF THE WEEK:
|
Aaron Jaquez RHP / 1B / Falcon, CO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 5
Jaquez takes home this week’s top hitter award after driving in 11 (!) runs, racking up nine hits, and belting five extra-base hits (four doubles and a grand slam). He also made an impact on the mound, running his fastball up to 93 mph and punching out 14 over seven innings. Jaquez’s grand slam sparked a comeback against Delta after the Falcons fell behind 5-0 through five innings. They evened the game in the sixth, and in the top of the seventh, Jaquez delivered with a bases-loaded homer to give them the lead. Jaquez helped lead his Falcon program to a 3-0 week, pushing them to a 5-0 start to the 2026 season. Another 2024 Future Games alum, he continues to show an incredibly high ceiling, with his velocity trending back up in his arsenal. At 6'5'', Jaquez brings easy strength and impact on both sides of the ball as an experienced senior, and is set to take his talents to McLennan CC after the spring. Through 21 plate appearances this season, Jaquez is hitting .667 with a 1.936 OPS.
