X-FACTOR

RHP/OF Drew Borkowski (2026; Heartland CC) enters his senior season as one of the most experienced hitters in the Red Raiders’ lineup, while also providing a veteran presence on the mound. Borkowski is no stranger to the varsity level, recieving All FVC honors in his sophomore season on the mound, the right-hander will be relied upon to help lead this offense and pitching staff in his final high school season. Last spring, the right-handed hitter logged 82 at-bats, collecting 15 hits, including five doubles, a triple, and a home run, while driving in 19 runs. With the departure of AJ Putty (2025; Illinois) and several other key 2025 graduates, Borkowski will be counted on to help spark the offense this spring. At his most recent event, Borkowski posted exit velocities up to 102.5 mph with a 92 mph average, while also showing solid bat speed (73.4 mph average). Defensively, he recorded throws up to 95 mph from the outfield. Borkowski will also be an important piece of the pitching staff. Last season, he threw 16 1/3 innings and struck out 20. His fastball has been up to 90 mph with life, and he pairs it with a sharp high-70s curveball that shows 12/6 break. He has also shown feel for a slider with late action and a changeup in the low-80s with 14+ inches of horizontal movement. Look for the senior to take on an even larger role offensively and on the mound this spring.

NEWCOMER TO WATCH

The Red Raiders add two high-level transfers in RHP Liam Nash (2027; Houston) and MIF Kyle Ziebell (2026; Lake Land CC). Nash transfers in from Westminster Christian, while Ziebell comes over from Harvest Christian. Both players attended events at LakePoint this past summer, competing in the Future Games and Senior Future Games. Nash impressed for Team Select, running his fastball up to 91 mph with above-average horizontal movement, averaging 17.5 inches. He also showed a tight-spinning slider with late break and a changeup in the high-70s with fade and depth. Nash enters an already strong pitching staff and has the potential to anchor the rotation as a true ace, capable of impacting the game every time he takes the mound. Ziebell competed for Team Heartland at the Senior Future Games, where he showcased his tools throughout the event and put together a solid performance in game action. He recorded exit velocities up to 94 mph, has been up to 90 mph across the infield, and ran a 6.69 60-yard dash. Ziebell should fit seamlessly into the Red Raiders’ lineup and provide impact both offensively and defensively. These two additions rank among the highest-profile transfers in the state and could help position the Red Raiders as a serious contender in a loaded Fox Valley Conference and the 4A playoffs.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Huntley program showcases impressive pitching depth that ranks among the elite in Illinois, boasting the No. 2 average fastball velocity statewide based on their top three arms. RHP Drew Borkowski (2026) headlines the senior class with a 90 mph fastball, while the underclass pitching corps offers tremendous upside led by RHP Owen Borkowski (2027) and RHP Liam Nash (2027), both capable of touching 90-91 mph. Borkowski stands out particularly with elite spin metrics, ranking 14th in Illinois with 2398 rpm fastball spin and 11th in the state with slider spin at 2429 rpm.

The Red Raiders' offensive potential centers around power and athleticism across multiple class years. C/RHP Brady Klepfer (2026; Wisconsin-Parkside) anchors the senior class behind the plate while showing impressive bat speed metrics that rank among the top 15 in Illinois. The 2027 class features multiple impact bats, with 3B/1B Matt Masura (2027) and SS/RHP Sean Dabe (2027) both recorded 100 mph exit velocities during showcase events. The middle infield depth continues with Garcia, Rosalez, and Obrochta all capable of contributing at shortstop.

Huntley's athletic profile suggests strong defensive capabilities, particularly in the outfield where OF/RHP Ben Wilgreen (2027) posted a 6.75-second 60-yard dash time ranking in the 93rd percentile statewide. The program's showcase metrics place them competitively within their conference, sitting in the middle tier for offensive numbers while their elite pitching velocity gives them a significant edge over most conference opponents.

BOTTOM LINE

Elite pitching velocity paired with emerging power bats creates a foundation for competitive play, though depth and consistency will determine whether Huntley can capitalize on their measurable talent advantages.
