Week of March 2nd
Monday
Shane Jelenevsky, RHP, 2026, Hillgrove
Potent showing for the Maryland commit in one of his first starts in the peach state. Had the full mix on display as he struck out 6 across 5.2 IP with only 1-hit and an unearned run. Imposing extra-large frame at 6-foot-7, 245-pounds with plenty more to project and moves well down the mound. Athlete on the bump with excellent instincts and fields his position well. Budding feel for a deep five-pitch mix with command throughout. Fastball showed heavy arm-side run at 90-91 (T92 MPH) and held velocity into the low 90’s deep into the 6th. Cutter was the go-to pitch and kept batters off balance as it played extremely well off the fastball at 79-82 with sharp movement and feel to spot anywhere in the zone. Mixed in two distinct breaking balls with a slider at 73-74 and a loopier curveball with depth at 65-68. Changeup created disappearing tumble at 82-83. Jelenevesky gives the Hawks a formidable workhorse at the top with a chance to garner a significant amount of draft helium this Spring.
Dylan Honore, SS, 2027, Hillgrove
Kennesaw State commit. It was impressive cuts throughout the night for the Hawks lead-off batter as he came through with an RBI pull-side double late in the game. Stands a lean 6-foot-0, 165-pounds with an abundance of twitch and athleticism throughout. Syncs up nicely and stays well-connected as he utilizes a leg-kick load with good ability to rotate through impact. Present hand and bat speed stands out with excellent barrel feel from an on-plane path in a gap-to-gap approach. Advanced bat-to-ball skills with great balance and feel to manipulate the barrel in-zone while setting the tone at the top. Made multiple tough plays throughout the night as he showcased impressive instincts and limitless range to match. Boasts loud tools throughout the profile with a chance to stick in the dirt long-term. Honore has shown well over the years and offers immense value for the Hawks this year and so forth with a real chance to make an instant impact from day 1 at KSU.
Alan Aguilar, 2B, 2026, Hillgrove
Lagrange commit. Aguilar put together a statement performance to open the week as he paced Hillgrove to a victory Monday night. Went 4-for-4 at the plate with two singles, double, solo homerun, and 3 RBI as well. Aguilar stands a compact, athletic 5-foot-8, 140-pounds with present feel to hit and sneaky strength in the frame. Slight leg-kick as he syncs up with good balance and transfers weight well through impact. Fast hands stand out in a compact stroke with leverage through the zone to match. Ability to create barrel length from a linear path and some adjustability in-the-zone from a quick trigger with strong bat-to-ball skills, and all-fields approach. Simplifies with two-strikes and looks to work backside while staying within his approach. Extremely tough out at the plate as he looks to hit early but will spoil tough pitches and work deep counts as well. Offers a quality glove up-the-middle in the dirt as well. Aguilar strengthens the depth of the lineup and will be a major factor as a run producer in the heart of the order throughout the Spring.
