Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

Tuesday

Stony Brook (NY) @ Rockmart

Score: Stony Brook win, 6-2

Standouts:

Aiden Ruiz, SS, 2026, Stony Brook

Trey Luke, OF/LHP, 2026, Rockmart

Gage Campbell, 1B/RHP, 2026, Rockmart

Wyatt Simons, RHP, 2028, Stony Brook

Key moments:
Gage Campbell set the tone early with some big early inning strikeouts before Trey Luke would take the lead with the leadoff HR. Stony Brook would end up taking the lead in the 3rd thanks to RBI knocks from both Aiden Ruiz and Vaughan Steinert and wouldn’t look back from there.

Ian’s Takeaway: Some quality out-of-state competition for the 2A defending state champions early on this season. Gage Campbell attacked a quality lineup early with the fastball generating consistent in-zone misses while mixing in the secondaries effectively. Trey Luke looks as physical as I’ve ever seen him and it showed early with the pull-side HR as the bat speed really stood out. Aiden Ruiz continues to look the part as one of the top SS in the 2026 class with effortless actions in the dirt and some of the fastest hands I’ve seen at this level. BP was electric with multiple HR from both sides of the plate and then came through with the most impressive at-bat of the night, working 12 pitches before lacing a backside 2B for an RBI. Colin Raymond continues to mature into a physical freak and looks to make massive noise this spring in the 2028 class. Wyatt Simons put together an impressive outing in the win for Stony Brook, showing some present swing-and-miss stuff with ability to land three pitches for strikes.

Greater Atlanta Christian vs Hebron Christian

Score: 8-7, Hebron Christian
Standouts:

Austin Dowdy, OF, 2028, Hebron Christian

Brodie Lewis, SS, 2028, Hebron Christian

Tyler Rogers, INF, 2027, Hebron Christian

Pierce Wilson, C, 2028, GAC

Key moments:The Spartans controlled the game early with a 2 run first inning. Then Trust Stopher had a big double to kick off the 3rd and would come around to score on an error to make it 3-0. Hebron Christian put together a big inning where Austin Dowdy delivered a knock with the bases loaded. The Lions did get thrown out at 2B and home that inning and killed some momentum. Brodie Lewis delivered a game tying single then GAC ended up getting back the lead with a SAC fly by RJ Pierre. Zack Koons was great out of the pen but ran into some tough luck in the 7th after a swinging bunt that loaded the bases for the Lions. Austin Dowdy would come through once again to tie the game at 7-7 after a 2 RBI single. Tyler Rogers would then come through for the game winning hit to walk it off in the 7th.

Hudson’ Takeaway:
These are 2 teams that are really fun to watch play. They have a good mix of under and upperclass talent for us to evaluate. The Lions could be a contender this year with a guy like Dallas Rice leading the rotation. Although he didn’t have his best stuff, the offense kept them in it. 1-9 has the ability to beat any arm with bat to ball guys and power threats like Demitri Watts and Gus Steve. Jacob Todebush gave the Spartans a chance on the mound, but they ended up coming up just short. Zach Koons and Brodie Lewis were 2 short stops that were fun to watch square off. They both play with some bounce in their step and are high level competitors.

North Paulding @ Etowah
Score: North Paulding win, 6-5
Standouts:

Lawson Sheffield, 3B, 2026, North Paulding

Jax Foust, RHP, 2028, North Paulding

Chance Williams, RHP, 2027, North Paulding

Matthew Sharman, RHP/1B, 2026, Etowah

Caden Borcherding, C, 2027, Etowah

Nate Curcio, 3B, 2027, Etowah

Key moments: It was a pitchers duel early on as Matthew Sharman looked like his usual self. The Eagles threatened in the 4th inning with singles from Carson Moore and Nate Curcio as they were able to scratch across a run to make it 1-0. Caden Borcherding stepped up to the plate with the bases-loaded and unloaded a grand-slam to center field to break it open at 5-0 in the 4th inning. A couple of errors in the 6th had the Wolfpack with runners at 1st and 2nd as Lawson Sheffield delivered an RBI double to chase Sharman from the game. Bryce Lee then came through with a 2 RBI double. The runs would continue to pile up in the 7th inning as the Wolfpack took advantage of a couple of walks along with moving runners over to scratch across 2 more runs and take the lead at 6-5. Etowah started to shift momentum in the bottom half of the 7th but it wasn’t meant to be as the Pack escaped the jam and claimed a huge region win to open the year.

Avery’s Takeaway: Both Matthew Sharman and Chance Williams showed extremely well for their respective squads. Caden Borcherding was the focal point of the Etowah offense with a towering no-doubt grand-slam while providing lockdown defense behind the plate. Nate Curcio and Carson Moore were other names that showed well in the Eagles lineup. Jax Foust kept the Wolfpack in it with huge innings out of the pen. Lawson Sheffield powered North Paulding to a win at the plate as he came through with 2-hits and 2 RBI’s as well en route to a victory. The Wolfpack stake their early season claim as they look to take the series on Friday against one of the perennial powerhouses in 6A and on the national circuit.
