Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings
April 13, 2026
With another week in the books, our staff is updating the Power 25 after an eventful week of games. There is plenty of movement throughout, which can be found below - along with some new teams in the mix.
Our top-3 remains the same, with No. 1 St. Laurence, No. 2 Normal Community and No. 3 Lincoln-Way East all having undefeated weeks.
Rising
+ No. 4 Huntley (10-1): Huntley is making a jump to No. 4 in this update after a 4-1 week. They split with Crystal Lake Central on the week 1-1, but they saw wins over Benet 2-1, Dundee Crown 12-6 and Barrington 8-6.
+ No. 5 Libertyville (7-4-1): The Wildcats are rising one spot to No. 5 after a 2-1 week. They took down a couple strong clubs in Barrington 10-5 and Stevenson 3-1 - though they fell to Stevenson 7-5 as well. They will have a good test this week against a talented trio of schools in Lake Zurich, Crystal Lake Central and St. Charles North.
+ No. 6 O’Fallon (11-4): The Panthers are seeing a significant jump to No. 6 as they continue to look like a top team in the southern part of the state. They only played one game this week, but won in dominant fashion over Althoff Catholic 10-0.
+ No. 7 Lockport (8-6): Lockport is another program seeing a significant jump, rising four spots to No. 7. They lost to Naperville Central 5-1, but made up for it with ranked wins over No. 17 Sandburg 4-3 and No. 9 Homewood-Flossmoor twice (11-1, 9-7).
+ No. 8 Triad (10-2): The Knights are rising four spots after a clean 2-0 week. The bats were alive in both games as they took down Granite City 11-1 and Centralia 11-7.
+ No. 12 Lane Tech (9-4): The Champions are rising again after an impressive 5-0 week. They took down No. 8 at the time New Trier 3-0, while also beating Whitney Young 5-3, Evanston 8-7 and Von Steuben 15-3 & 2-0.
+ No. 16 Mascoutah (11-0): Still undefeated, Mascoutah is rising four spots after a perfect 4-0 week. They outscored opponents 48-4 on the week, taking down Murphysboro 16-0, Gibault Catholic 19-2, St. Louis Homeschool 10-0 and Belleville West 3-2.
+ No. 23 McHenry (9-2-1): McHenry is rising one spot after a 4-0-1 week, beating St. Charles North 1-0, Crystal Lake South 3-2 and Dundee Crown 15-0 twice. Their tie came against Harlem in an 8-8 final.
Falling
+ No. 10 Mount Carmel (8-5): A 2-2 week has the Caravan dropping a handful of spots. They took down Reavis (4-2) and Andrew (6-4), but lost to a couple of Kentucky’s top teams in Trinity 9-0 and St. Xavier 11-6. The record may not be flashy, but we are still very high on the roster the Caravan have, therefore keeping them in the top-10.
+ No. 11 Brother Rice (6-7): The Crusaders are another talented team falling due to a tough week, finishing 1-3 with two losses to Trinity (KY) and a loss to St. Xavier (KY) 7-2. Another example of a team we still like a lot, the Crusaders are falling strictly due to overall record at this point.
New to the Power 25
+ No. 17 Lyons Township (9-1): The Lions enter the Power 25 with a strong week, going 3-1 with all three wins coming over ranked opponents (No. 18 Lemont 3-2 & No. 23 Oak Park-River Forest 9-2 & 5-2). Their lone loss came to Oak Park-River Forest 5-3 in the opening game of the series.
+ No. 19 Geneva (11-1): The Vikings boast one of the more impressive records in the state, sitting at 11-1 on the year after a dominant 3-0 week. They saw wins over Waubonsie Valley 9-5, South Elgin 7-1 and Naperville North 6-4 - also not losing a game since the first week of the season.
+ No. 21 Normal University (12-1): The Pioneers enter the Power 25 after a 3-0 week, seeing wins over Southeast 12-2, Jacksonville 17-1 and Joliet Catholic 7-6. They also have a strong win over East Peoria on their resume.
