Prep Baseball Wisconsin Player of the Week: Decker Kleppin
April 8, 2026
Random Lake is off to a hot 3-0 start outsourcing their opponents 32-9 while mixing in some in and out of state competition to start off the spring. One big factor that seems to be one of the most reliable and constant contributors during the WIAA over the past two seasons is junior infielder Decker Kleppin. Across 13 plate appearances the right-handed hitter went 4-6 with a double, two home runs, six RBIs. eight runs scored, five walks and seven stolen bases. For his efforts, Kleppin has been named this week’s Player of the Week.
Starting off on Wednesday in a 3-0 victory over Brookfield Academy going 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and three stolen bases on the day en route to an early season victory. Kleppin would also strikeout four batters and earn the save across a three inning outing
On Thursday against Houston (MO), the right-hander would get off to a hot start hitting a home run in his first at-bat of the day on a 2-2 count to give the Rams an early lead. Kleppin would hit another home run in the top of the third in his second at-bat of the day on a 1-0 count to extend the lead to 3 runs. Kleppin would line out to center field in his third trip to the plate before providing quality at-bats in his last two trips to the plate, walking once and driving in a run on a sacrifice fly.
Friday in a 16-6 victory against Fieldcrest, Kleppin would finish his week going 1-for-1 with three RBIs, three walks, three runs scored and three stolen bases.
The infielder has been a constant performer at the plate in front of our staff with tools to match. The barrel feel stands out with similar standout impact for his size with a fast and twitchy bat. Defensively looks like a future infielder capable of defending multiple spots in the dirt including third base. The bat and what he can do at the plate is the calling card to the profile and how well the approach and swing decisions are against high-end arms will determine how high he elevates himself as a prospect.
We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within tomorrow's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that.
