Owen Johnson turns in 5 strong IP with 9 punchouts, allowing no runs on no hits with one walk. Prep Baseball NC was in attendance for this gem as the right hander was up to 90 in this one. Find out what our scouts saw below --

Wingate commit. Long frame with broad shoulders. Listed at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds. Setup on the 1B side. Simple rocker. Preset pivot. Repeats the leg lift to the low chest. Level and on-line. Long arm swing. Over-the-top slot. Solid arm speed with good arm strength. Fastball at 87-89, touching 90 a couple of times. Paired the fastball with two breaking balls. Slider has 11/5 tilt at 76-79. Enough depth to miss bats, especially after locating the fastball to the arm side or elevated. Curveball has downer action, working out of the hand at 71-73. Flooded the zone with all three pitches. Showed an ability to add and subtract on each pitch, attacking hitters with feel for manipulating pace and movement to miss bats. Threw a 5 inning no-hitter, striking out 9. Primed to be an early contributor at the next level, with room to continue to grow toward his ceiling. Video from his outing below.
