Alabama Class of 2027 Rankings: Post-Spring Update

Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

ALABAMA - The Prep Baseball Alabama staff is excited to release the latest update to the Alabama 2027 Rankings following a loaded spring season across the state. After months of in-game coverage, postseason evaluations, and looks at players throughout the spring and early-summer showcase circuit, this update features significant movement throughout the class as several prospects continued to elevate their stock heading into the summer.

The junior class continues to show impressive depth on both sides of the ball with a number of players taking major developmental jumps during the 2026 high school season. From high-level performances against top competition to standout showings at Prep Baseball events, the latest update reflects a combination of spring production, long-term projection, athleticism, and overall body of work seen by the Prep Baseball Alabama staff. With the summer showcase season quickly approaching, this update also helps set the stage for what should be another important evaluation period throughout the region over the coming months.

How We Evaluate & Update the Rankings

The Prep Baseball Alabama staff evaluates players year-round through a combination of in-game coverage, spring and summer evaluations, postseason looks, and showcase/event data collected throughout the calendar. Both in-game performance and objective data are extremely important in the evaluation process, as each provides valuable context when building and updating the rankings.

Strong spring production and live-game performance against quality competition remain a major factor in every update. How players perform in meaningful game situations throughout the high school season carries significant weight, especially when paired with consistency, athleticism, and overall impact on winning. At the same time, objective data collected at Prep Baseball events plays an equally important role in helping project long-term upside at the next level. All data collected at Prep Baseball events is verified through industry-leading technology and trusted evaluation settings, including TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance testing. Metrics such as exit velocity, athletic testing numbers, arm strength, pitch characteristics, and physical projection help provide measurable feedback that complements what our staff sees during live evaluations.

Rankings are not built strictly from statistical production alone, nor are they based solely on showcase metrics. The goal is to combine both live-game evaluations and verified objective data to create the most complete and accurate picture possible of a prospect’s current ability and future potential.

As the class continues to develop, movement throughout the rankings is natural and expected. While it may appear that some players “drop” in the rankings, that movement is often more reflective of other players making significant jumps or new prospects debuting higher in the class rather than a decline in the player’s overall evaluation. The 2027 class continues to show impressive depth across the state, and with a major summer evaluation period approaching, additional movement throughout the rankings is expected in future updates.

Top of the Class Holding Strong

The top tier of the Alabama 2027 class continues to stand out as deep and talented group within the state. Several nationally-recognized prospects continued to strengthen their standing this spring with strong performances against high-level competition while continuing to show the combination of athleticism, tools, and long-term projection that college recruiters covet.

A number of players near the top of the rankings also continued producing during the postseason while showing the ability to impact games on both sides of the ball. With several committed prospects and high-follow uncommitted names still trending upward, the top of the class remains one of the biggest strengths of Alabama’s 2027 group heading into the summer.

Paul Barnett SS / RHP / Mountain Brook, AL / 2027

From 3/5/26: "SS/RHP Paul Barnett (Mountain Brook, 2027) enters the spring as the No. 1 overall prospect in Alabama’s 2027 class and continues to show why he’s viewed as one of the premier players in the state. An Alabama commit and Prep Baseball Future Games alum, Barnett carries a lean, projectable 6-foot-2, 180-pound frame with plenty of room to continue adding strength. The right-handed hitter already shows present thump in the barrel, generating easy bat speed from an athletic stance with a natural feel for the hands through the zone. Though he didn’t see many pitches to drive in this look, Barnett capitalized when given the opportunity, opening the game with a double to deep right field and later reaching via hit-by-pitch. The strength projection and natural barrel ability point to continued offensive impact as he matures physically."

Jace Duckett LHP / Madison County, AL / 2027

From 4/14/26: "LHP Jace Duckett (Madison County, 2027) continued to separate himself with another dominant outing, showing advanced pitchability and control of three quality offerings. The Alabama recruit works with a low-effort delivery and long-levered frame, allowing the arsenal to play up. The fastball sat 87-89 mph with command to all quadrants, while the 72-74 mph curveball showed sharp bite and generated swing-and-miss. Mixed in a 73-75 mph changeup with late fade that played well off the fastball. Went 7 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 1 earned run with 11 strikeouts, controlling the game throughout."

Boston Brown RHP / Smiths Station, AL / 2027

From 2/9/26: "RHP Boston Brown (The Lakeside School, 2027) opened his junior season by reaffirming his status as one of the top arms in the class, spinning 6.2 shutout innings while competing through traffic against a pesky lineup. A former Future Games attendee and Auburn recruit, the 6-foot-2, 212-pound right-hander shows clear starter traits with a fairly clean operation, advanced pitchability, and a confident, workable three-pitch mix. Brown worked primarily off an upper-80s fastball that touched 92 mph and held its velocity deep into the outing, but it was his 72–75 mph breaking ball that served as his go-to secondary, showing late, deceptive bite and consistent feel for spin. He featured the breaker heavily in all counts, landing it for strikes early and expanding with it to finish hitters. With a fading changeup in the mid-70s rounding out the mix, the combination of competitiveness, durability, and steadily trending stuff continues to point toward a dependable starter profile."

Connor Greb 3B / Spain Park, AL / 2027

From 3/12/26: "3B Connor Greb (Spain Park, 2027) continued his hot start to the season with another loud offensive showing, finishing 3-for-5 with two home runs, a single, and three RBIs from the leadoff spot. The Auburn commit features a strong 6-foot, 190-pound frame that has added noticeable strength since last summer’s Future Games. Greb operates with a smooth, controlled left-handed swing that utilizes a short toe-tap trigger and keeps the barrel through the zone with the ability to lift. His first home run came on a 1-1 sinker that he lifted off the scoreboard in right field, and he later added another towering drive to dead center. One of the most impressive swings of the look came on a backside single where he let the ball travel and drove it the other way with carry. The polished hit tool and present power continue to stand out, and he also shows clean, athletic actions defensively at third base."

Brodie Wilson RHP / 1B / Faith Academy, AL / 2027

From 3/13/26: "RHP/1B Brodie Wilson (Faith Academy, 2027) continues to look like one of the premier prospects in Alabama’s 2027 class. The Auburn recruit and former Future Games alum owns a strong 6-foot-1, 190-pound frame with present strength and additional projection remaining. Wilson turned in a dominant complete-game performance against a talented Class 7A opponent this past week, showcasing the type of arsenal that has made him one of the more coveted arms in the state. Working from a clean delivery with a compact arm action and high three-quarter slot, Wilson’s fastball sat 88-91 mph and touched 93 mph multiple times early in the outing. The pitch showed quality carry through the zone with spin rates hovering around 2500 RPM. He complemented it with a power slider at 78-82 mph that spun north of 2600 RPM with sharp bite, while also mixing a firm changeup at 84-86 mph that provided a different look and played well off the fastball. Wilson filled the zone consistently throughout the outing, finishing with a line of 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, and 7 K on 102 pitches (66 strikes). The physical profile translates to both sides of the ball, as Wilson also flashed his two-way upside at the plate by blasting a home run to center field against an upper-80s arm."

Biggest Risers

Several prospects throughout the state made significant jumps in the latest update following standout junior campaigns during the spring. Whether through improved physicality, offensive production, velocity jumps, defensive development, or continued athletic progression, this group used the spring season to elevate their stock in a major way heading into the summer circuit.

Braden Weathers 1B / Hartselle, AL / 2027

From 4/7/26: "1B Braden Weathers (Hartselle, 2027) continues to establish himself as one of the premier uncommitted bats in the class with a dominant offensive showing and clear middle-of-the-order impact. Featuring an athletic build with strength in the lower half, he works from a controlled setup with slightly lower hands, allowing the barrel to enter the zone on time and stay through it with authority. The swing operates on an uphill path with advanced bat-to-ball skills and barrel manipulation, producing loud contact with heavy backspin and carry to all fields. Put together a monster performance, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, including a grand slam, along with a triple, 6 RBIs, and 4 runs scored, consistently driving the baseball with authority throughout the day."

Brody Blevins SS / Westbrook Christian, AL / 2027

From 3/24/26: "SS Brody Blevins (Westbrook Christian, 2027) impacted the game in multiple ways, highlighted by a key two-run home run that added separation late. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound infielder features an athletic frame with a quick, powerful barrel that creates lift and carry, especially to the pull side. Offensive performance aligns with strong underlying tools, including previous 100 mph exit velocity and above-average athletic metrics. Defensively, stood out with premium arm strength and the ability to make plays on the move look routine. Added a stolen base to round out the performance. A high-upside prospect with tools that translate on both sides of the ball."

Ryan Parent RHP / Daphne, AL / 2027

From 4/30/26: "RHP Ryan Parent (Daphne, 2027) showed some of the better pure stuff in the state in this look, turning in a strong outing against one of the top offensive lineups in 7A. The right-hander works with clean, controlled actions down the mound from a higher three-quarter slot and showed advanced feel for a deep four-pitch mix throughout. The fastball sat 88-90 mph and touched 92 in the first inning, locating it well to the glove side with life through the zone. Mixed two distinctly different breaking balls effectively, featuring a firmer 78-80 mph slider and a 74-76 mph curveball with more depth and shape, showing feel for spin on both. The 78-79 mph changeup played well off the fastball with late tumble down in the zone, helping keep hitters off balance throughout the outing. Finished 6 innings allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and striking out 9 while continuing to trend as a high-level arm to know moving forward."

Will Carter C / Huntsville, AL / 2027

From 4/18/26: "C Will Carter (Huntsville, 2027) continues his strong spring with another impactful showing, adding to his case as one of the top uncommitted catchers in the 2027 class. The right-handed hitter works from a simple, efficient operation with present strength and bat speed, producing juice to all fields. Highlighted this look with a mammoth backside home run, showing the ability to drive the baseball with authority. Finished 1-for-3 with a home run, an RBI, a run scored, a walk, and a stolen base. Behind the plate, remains steady with present arm strength and accuracy, consistently producing pop times in the mid-1.9 range."

Colton Clark RHP / 3B / Hazel Green, AL / 2027

From 3/20/26: "RHP/3B Colton Clark (Hazel Green, 2027) earned the win with a strong four-inning outing, attacking a quality Bob Jones lineup with confidence and tempo. The uncommitted right-hander shows an athletic delivery with a quick pace down the mound and a loose arm action. Worked 85-88 mph with the fastball, showing the ability to command the zone and consistently work to the inner half. Mixed in an 11/5 breaking ball that he was able to land for strikes, keeping hitters off balance and disrupting timing. Demonstrates competitiveness and confidence on the mound, working efficiently before handing things off to the bullpen. Profiles as an athletic arm with feel for the zone and continued upside as he develops."

Newcomers to Know

Every update brings new names into the fold, and this cycle was no different. A number of previously unranked prospects forced their way into consideration following strong spring performances and continued development over the past several months.

This section features players who emerged throughout the high school season and now position themselves as important follow prospects moving into a critical summer evaluation period.

Addison Senn LHP / Ariton, AL / 2027

From 3/6/26: "LHP Addison Senn (Ariton, 2027) emerged as one of the more intriguing prospects seen over the weekend, showing notable upside as an uncommitted junior southpaw. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-hander carries an athletic frame with projection remaining and brings a well-rounded athletic background as a quarterback on the football field. In this look, Senn tossed 2.1 hitless innings while striking out four, though the command began to waver slightly late in the outing. He works with a deceptive delivery that features slight crossfire and shows a willingness to attack the inner half to right-handed hitters. The fastball ranged 83-86 mph and topped at 88 early, generating some swing-and-miss, while the slider spun 74-76 mph with 10-4 shape and depth and spin rates approaching 2500 RPM."

Jordan Garcia LHP / Chelsea, AL / 2027

From 2/18/26: "LHP Jordan Garcia (Chelsea, 2027) shined in his first varsity outing, turning in four strong innings of relief. He allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out five, working around three walks and showing the ability to compete through traffic. Garcia operated with a fastball at 81-85 mph and mixed in a 73-75 mph slider along with a 71-75 mph changeup to keep hitters off balance. The arm works loose and free, and the delivery is smooth and repeatable. The combination of strike-making, three-pitch mix, and athletic operation points to real upside as he continues to develop."

Porter Nelson 3B / RHP / Opp, AL / 2027

From 3/19/26: "3B/RHP Porter Nelson (Opp, 2027) is an intriguing Wiregrass two-way prospect with a projectable frame, present strength, and clear upside on both sides of the ball. The left-handed hitter features a leveraged swing that produces loud contact, consistently finding the barrel in recent looks, including multiple hard-hit lineouts and an RBI against New Brockton. Shows early feel for impact with the ability to drive the baseball, pointing to continued offensive development as strength and consistency increase. Defensively, has seen time on the infield while working back from a tender arm, showing developing actions and athleticism that should improve with added reps. On the mound, the right-hander has been up to 88 mph with a clean, quick arm and noticeable arm speed. With projection remaining and room for velocity gains, he profiles as a high-upside 2027 follow with promising two-way potential moving forward."

Tripp Benton 1B / RHP / Dothan, AL / 2027

From 5/9/26: "1B/RHP Tripp Benton (Dothan, 2027) continues to show a highly physical offensive profile with present strength and easy juice off the barrel. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed hitter carries real heaviness through contact, working on a slightly uphill path with the ability to drive the baseball with authority. Hammered an RBI single to left field in one at-bat before later driving another ball to the pull side for his second hit of the game, consistently showing impact when on time. The strength and barrel presence stand out immediately in the box, and the offensive upside continues to trend upward. Also doubles as a quality right-handed arm on the mound, adding to the overall profile."

Evan Champion RHP / Northridge, AL / 2027

From 3/22/26: "RHP Evan Champion (Northridge, 2027) turned in a solid five-inning start against a talented Hazel Green lineup, taking advantage of early run support to attack the zone with confidence. The uncommitted right-hander worked 84-86 mph with the fastball, touching 88 early, and showed the ability to consistently fill it up while pitching ahead in counts. Complemented the heater with a 71-74 mph curveball that flashed depth and feel, along with a 75-78 mph changeup that proved effective, especially against left-handed hitters. Demonstrated a steady tempo and willingness to challenge hitters, limiting free passes and keeping the game under control. Finished with 7 hits allowed, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and multiple strikeouts in an efficient outing. Profiles as a strike-throwing arm with feel for three pitches and continued upside."
