2026 Iowa High School Team Preview: Grundy Center

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement is building throughout Iowa. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Iowa.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Carroll or Cedar Rapids at the IHSAA 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A State Tournaments, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to shine a spotlight on all teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Iowa.

TEAM OUTLOOK
“We lost 3 seniors that were a big part of our offense, defensively we should be pretty solid on the mound and behind the plate. Judd Jirovsky is back and a year older and bigger and stronger. Pete Lebo returns a 3 year stater at catcher and will bring power from the left side of the plate. Brayden Davie is a contributor on the mound and tracks the ball in center as good as anyone. Britt Meyer is a big lefty that has picked up some velocity and movement. Ryder Slifer is tall and strong at first and adds power to the lineup. Hayden Geerdes and Ethan Meester both were starters as sophomores and I am excited at their growth. Our numbers are down but have a very solid 9-10 kids that are anxious for another run at a conference title.” – Pat Brown, head coach
