Rural Class baseball doesn't get the headlines that the larger classifications do, but anyone who has watched these programs compete knows the product on the field is as gritty, passionate, and hard-nosed as anything in Florida. Small rosters, tight communities, and programs where every player on the field matters. Here's how we see it playing out.

Region 1

#1 Northview vs. #4 Chipley Northview enters the postseason as the top seed in Region 1 and handles Chipley in a first-round matchup. The Chiefs take care of business and set their sights on what's ahead.

#2 Jay vs. #3 Holmes County Holmes County pulls off the first-round upset here. Jay comes in as the higher seed, but Holmes County has been playing their best baseball at exactly the right time.

Regional Final: Holmes County over Northview Holmes County doesn't stop there. Northview is the top seed and the home favorite, but the Blue Devils are a team that thrives when nobody is expecting them to win, and they deliver again.

Region 2

#1 Cottondale vs. #4 Sneads Cottondale has been one of the more well-rounded programs in the Panhandle all season and dispatches Sneads. The Hornets advance.

#2 Port St. Joe vs. #3 Blountstown Port St. Joe handles Blountstown in a first-round matchup that goes to form. The Tigers move on and set up a compelling regional final against Cottondale.

Regional Final: Cottondale over Port St. Joe Two Panhandle programs that know each other well meet with a state semifinal berth on the line. Cottondale's overall depth and the way their rotation sets up for a short series gives them the edge in what figures to be a tightly contested series. The Hornets advance and earn a date with Holmes County.

State Semifinal: Holmes County over Cottondale

Holmes County's Cinderella run keeps rolling. Cottondale has earned their spot here and won't go quietly. But Holmes County has been playing inspired baseball since the bracket opened, and their pitching staff continues to deliver when the game is on the line. The Blue Devils advance to the state championship.

Region 3

#1 Union County vs. #4 Madison County Union County is the top seed in Region 3 and one of the premier programs in the Rural Class. The Tigers handle this one comfortably and move on.

#2 Aucilla Christian vs. #3 Lafayette Lafayette pulls off the first-round upset in what figures to be one of the better games of Region 3. They've been dangerous all season and take full advantage of the opportunity. Lafayette advances.

Regional Final: Union County over Lafayette Lafayette's upset run hits a wall against Union County. The Tigers are a program built for the postseason, deep pitching, a balanced lineup, and the experience to handle pressure situations. Lafayette competes hard, but Union County closes this one out and advances to the state semifinal.

Region 4

#1 Trenton vs. #4 Dixie County Trenton comes in as the top seed in Region 4 and gets their postseason started the right way. Dixie County battles, but the Tigers have too much across the board. Trenton moves on.

#2 Marathon vs. #3 Williston Marathon handles Williston in a first-round matchup that goes to form. The Dolphins advance and earn a regional final showdown with Trenton.

Regional Final: Trenton over Marathon Trenton is the class of Region 4 and backs that up when it counts. Marathon is no pushover but the Tigers' overall depth and pitching quality prove to be the difference. Trenton advances to the state semifinal.

State Semifinal: Union County over Trenton

Union County and Trenton are two programs cut from the same cloth. This one has the makings of a grinder from first pitch to last out. Union County's overall talent and the depth of their roster give them a slight but meaningful edge, and the Tigers find a way to close this one out in the late innings. Union County advances to the state championship as the favorite to bring home the Rural Class title.

Holmes County has been the story of this bracket. But Union County has been the most complete program in the Rural Class all season. Their pitching staff doesn't give games away, their lineup can manufacture runs in multiple ways, and they've handled every challenge put in front of them with the kind of composure that separates programs with state title ambitions. Holmes County's magic run meets its match on the championship stage.

Union County wins the 2026 FHSAA Rural Class State Championship.
