Prep Baseball Wisconsin Player of the Week: Jace Mataczynski
April 22, 2026
Auburn recruit Jace Mataczynski (Hudson) has been on a tear to start the year, plenty of helium surrounding the Wisconsin Shortstop heading into the MLB Draft with loud performances starting to stack up. Helping the Raiders to a 4-0 week last week, including an upset victory over then top ranked team Muskego in what was most likely the Game of the Year. Going 6-for-14 on the week with three home runs, a double and seven RBIs.
Starting his week off on Tuesday against Eau Claire North, going 1-for-3 with a walk, Thursday against North going 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Four hit day on Saturday across two contests, the first against Muskego going 3-for-5 at the plate with a three run home run in a clutch spot, coming up a triple short of the cycle on the game. Earned the win on the mound as well, tossing the final four innings striking out six batters.
Would swat another two-run home run to right-center field the next game in a narrow victory over Hartford, finishing the game going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run while playing standout defense all day.
One of the top MLB Draft prospects in the Badger State and his draft stock is pointed straight up as we progress through the spring. The defense is capable of being a carrying tool throughout his playing career while the right-handed swing pairs natural bat-to-ball ability with a stronger more mature frame seeing regular and consistent impact showing throughout his at-bats.

Scouting Report
Super 60: Entered the Super 60 after making a name for himself late summer and into the fall. Standing at a trim 6-foot-4, 193-pounds with sloped shoulders and clear room to continue to add to his frame without sacrificing any additional athleticism. Looked the part at short among some other high-end shortstop prospects while showing off more than enough arm strength (T97 mph) to play on that side of the diamond, and did it in the midst of basketball season. Continues to find barrels at the plate and the impact continues to tick up reaching a max exit velocity of 105.2 mph with a max batted ball distance of 400 feet from an athletic and improving right handed swing. An exciting profile from a cold weather state that could show even more improvements once the spring gets started in about two months time.
