Tuesday

Ola @ East Coweta DH

Score:

GM1: Ola win, 9-8

GM2: Ola win, 2-0

Standouts:

Daniel Mendez, SS, 2026, Ola

Timothy Clark, OF, 2026, Ola

Rece Leathers, 3B, 2026, Ola

Bryson Long, 1B, 2026, Ola

Cam Wilder, 3B/OF, 2027, Ola

Chaz Cave, OF, 2029, Ola

Aiden Chester, OF, 2026, East Coweta

Hagan Clifton, C, 2026, East Coweta

Key Moments:

GM1: It was 0-0 through 2-innings of ball, however that would quickly change. A Hudson Harrison walk and a Hunter Bedenbaugh double set up the Indians as Lathan Gibby executed a squeeze to perfection to get the Indians on the board in the 3rd as they took a 1-0 lead. East Coweta’s offense kept the foot on the gas in the 4th as they scratched across 4-runs. Aiden Chester came through with an RBI double followed by a pair of RBI knocks from Hagan Clifton and Aiden Lynd to make it 5-0 after 4-innings. Ola answered back with a run in the top half of the 5th on a Daniel Mendez RBI single. The East Coweta offense continued to tack on as Hagan Clifton added another RBI base-hit in the 5th to extend the lead to 6-1. Avery Lamb cut into the lead in the 6th on an RBI bloop single as it was 6-2 heading to the bottom half. Where the Indians put across another run to make it 7-2 heading to the 7th. Bryson Long kickstarted the rally with a 1-out double followed by an error and Cam Wilder delivered as he sent one over the LF wall for the 3-run HR. As Ola trailed down 7-5. East Coweta was able to produce a strikeout against the 7-spot in the Ola lineup but walked the 8th and 9th batters to get it back to the top. Rece Leathers came through with a clutch 2-out RBI base-hit to make it 7-6. The rally continued as Timothy Clark poked one backside for the 2-strike and 2-out RBI base-hit to complete the rally. It was all knotted up at 7-7 where it would shortly after go to the bottom half with a chance for the Indians to walk it off. East Coweta couldn’t answer in the bottom half, sending the game to extras. Both offenses could get nothing going across the 8th and 9th innings as it was still 7-7. Daniel Mendez opened the 10th with a go-ahead solo homerun and Cam Wilder added an RBI double extending the lead to 9-7 to send it to the bottom of the 10th. East Coweta threatened behind a couple of walks and were able to scratch across a run but that was all that would come across. Ending the game in a 9-8 Ola win after 4-hours and 10-innings played.

GM2: This game was the opposite of the first as the bats were quiet on both sides until the 6th inning. Where Bryson Long delivered a 2-RBI knock for the Mustangs to grab a 2-0 lead. East Coweta had trouble mustering anything on offense and were shutout as Ola swept the out of region double-header.

Avery’s Takeaway:

This was my second and third look at the Ola Mustangs this Spring as they have won all three. A senior heavy core knows what it takes to win as they push the underclassmen on this roster. Big-time performances from Rece Leathers, Timothy Clark, Daniel Mendez, and Bryson Long propelled the offense to two key out of region games. I was really impressed with junior Cam Wilder who provided instant impact off the bench in game one as he reached base in all three at-bats. Another name to note is freshman, Chaz Cave who put together a 3-hit performance out of the 5-spot in the lineup. Ola has dealt with some inconsistency this Spring but will be a team to watch if they can string it together down the stretch. Despite dropping both games the scrapiness and depth of the Indians lineup stands out. With names like Hunter Bedenbaugh, Lathan Gibby, Jax Bowles, Jakob Gonzalez, and Aiden Chester leading the way. East Coweta has the pieces to make a run in 6A if the pitching can follow suit and give quality innings.

Bremen @ Haralson County

Score: Bremen win, 4-0

Standouts:

Carter Allen, RHP/OF, 2027, Bremen

Brayden Beckwith, INF, 2028, Bremen

Cooper Mincey, SS, 2026, Bremen

Key Moments: Having Carter Allen on the mound will be an asset every time and while the junior RHP didn’t have the best command, showed ability to avoid damage throughout in his 9th win on the year. In a low scoring matchup on both sides, Brayden Beckwith showed the clutch gene all night as the sophomore would go 3-for-3 with 3 RBI to help lead Bremen to victory.

Ian’s Takeaway: With a region championship on the line, the Blue Devils had their ace on the mound and Carter Allen came through with another quality start in his massive junior season. The former Future Gamer and Georgia Tech commit has a sub-1.00 ERA, 79 K in 43.1 IP this spring and gives this team an excellent chance to win every time he steps on the mound as shown in 8 K, 1 H performance last night over 5.0 scoreless innings. The middle of the lineup has been huge for Bremen to match the pitching with Allen, Cooper Mincey, Brayden Beckwith providing a robust 81 RBI combined. This team is getting hot at the right time as they’ve won 12 of the last 13 with the pieces in place to make real noise in the playoffs.
