Spring Break Experience at Lakepoint: Scout Blog
April 8, 2026
Jackson Ahrens, SS, 2026, East Peoria (IL)
Simply put, the Kirkwood commit had one of the best weeks in baseball that you're going to see at any level. Ahrens would open up the week reaching base in 17 straight plate appearances including going 14-for-14 with 4 HR, 4 3B, 13 RBI, 13 R and let’s not forget, complete the cycle in back-to-back games. Simple actions in the box allow the shortstop to stay on-time consistently with advanced barrel feel in a flat path that shows tremendous zone coverage. Hunted fastballs early in counts and would rarely miss as the senior drove balls into both gaps with ease. Found multiple 100+ exit velocities on the week with everything on the bat being struck well. Defensive actions profile across the dirt with quality lateral range and above-average accuracy in the arm that can play at multiple positions. I truly couldn't imagine the type of confidence having a week like this could give a player and will be exciting to see what Ahrens can do this spring.
Aidan Gorman, 2026, OF, Troy (OH)
Last year as a then-uncommitted junior, Gorman was a massive standout at this very event and the Marshall commit came out on-fire once again in a huge week. A spark-plug defender in CF with tools throughout the athletic 5-foot-11, 175-pound frame that plays at the plate as well. Compact left-handed swing shows a direct path to contact with ability to create leverage and exudes advanced pitch recognition to match. Feel to use the whole field was obvious as he sprayed multiple XBH across the field while flashing some sneaky raw power on a 104 EV no-doubt HR to the pull-side. Opening the season 3-0 on Spring break with Gorman among others swinging it extremely well will give the Trojans massive confidence to start the year.
Cooper Parman, 3B, 2029, Whitley County (KY)
The #3 in Kentucky’s freshmen class looked the part in a middle-of-the-order role for Whitley County all week long. Physical 6-foot-0, 200-pound shows big-time strength in the lower half that tapped into regularly throughout the week. Aggressive leg kick trigger drives the lead leg in the ground with force that generates easy strength from the ground up with budding barrel feel in the steep left-handed cut. Heaviness in the barrel through the zone with ability to keep the bat head on-plane for consistent line-drives. Impressive footwork at the hot corner with some flexibility and above-average arm strength present to make any throw needed. Will be a major name to know over the next few years in the Bluegrass state.
