The 2026 VA/DC high school season fully and officially kicked off on March 16th. We begin our weekly awards for a couple different areas, including today's featured Team of the Week. Team of the Week will run each and every Wednesday. This story will highlight a team that had a strong week, which usually includes at least one win over a Power 25/quality opponent.

Team of the Week: St. Anne's-Belfield

 

The first Team of the Week for 2026 is the St. Anne's-Belfield Saints. The Saints went 2-0-1 last week with wins over #7 Landon (MD), #6 Bishop O'Connell (VA), and a tie with Jackson-Reed (DC). Landon only has one loss this season and Bishop O'Connell was previously undefeated. One of the biggest takeaways from last week was that all three games were played in a 24 hour time period versus three quality opponents. Ryan Steeper (Washington & Lee) has been huge for STAB on the mound and joining him in clutch performances on the mound was Jack Fisher. Fisher threw four strong innings versus Landon on Saturday where he did not give up an earned run. A few offensive standouts from last week were Waylon Ammons (Richmond), Beau Bloxsom, Oscar Hickey (William & Mary), and Mike Poncy.
