NOTABLE RECAPS FROM SATURDAY

⭐GAME OF THE DAY⭐

#5 Snow Canyon (7) vs. #2 American Fork (6)

In a highly anticipated Game of the Day featuring two of the state’s top 5 programs, the Snow Canyon Warriors edged out the American Fork Cavemen in a 7–6 thriller that lived up to the heavy billing. The Warriors' offense set a relentless pace early, racking up 12 hits led by a standout three-hit performance from Logan Ross and a multi-hit effort from Kade Kelsch. Trey Vaughn provided the crucial punch in the middle of the order, driving in two runs to help Snow Canyon build an early cushion. American Fork refused to go quietly, fueled by a powerful showing from Gavin Robinson, who finished a triple shy of the cycle with a home run and a double. While Talon Willardson was perfect at the plate to keep the pressure on, Warriors starter Trent Chris was the equalizer on the mound, fanning eight batters over five focused innings with PJ Hancock earning the save in the final two frames. Despite a heroic relief effort from Brecken Jensen, who kept the Cavemen within striking distance for over five frames, Snow Canyon’s defensive poise and early run support allowed them to claim a signature victory in this clash of titans.

Top Performers

Shadow Ridge (NV) (3) vs. #4 Pleasant Grove (6)

The Pleasant Grove Vikings overcame a self-inflicted defensive struggle to secure a 6–3 victory over the Shadow Ridge Mustangs. While five errors threatened to derail the Vikings' momentum, starter Mason Henry acted as the ultimate safety net on the mound, racking up nine strikeouts over six dominant innings and allowing zero earned runs. The Pleasant Grove offense provided the necessary cushion early, fueled by a deep shot to CF home run from Connor Ybarra and a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate from Keaton Nordick. Shadow Ridge found a spark of their own when Oliver Schoppmann left the yard, and Gage Kennedy capitalized on defensive miscues to drive in two, but the Mustangs couldn't find an answer for the Vikings' high-efficiency relief. Despite the defensive lapses, Nash Clement helped set the table with two hits and two runs, while Tobin Degelbeck stepped in for the final frame to shut the door and preserve the hard-fought road win.

Schurr (CA) (4) vs. #24 Layton (5)

The Layton Lancers treated the basepaths like a drag strip to edge out the Schurr Spartans in a focused 5–4 victory during tournament play. The Lancers’ offense was ignited by Burkon Beus, who set the table with two hits and was a constant menace with three stolen bases, while Jowell Dasni provided the heavy lifting with a triple and a double to drive in two runs. Nik Bielaczyc was equally clinical at the dish, racking up three hits to keep the carousel moving for a Layton squad that swiped nine bags as a team. On the mound, Daxton Weese provided a steady foundation before handing the ball to Levi Culp, who tossed three focused innings of relief to navigate through late-game threats. Schurr refused to go quietly, finding plenty of life through Ivan Quintero and Joshua Talavera, who both collected triples to keep the Spartans within striking distance, but the Lancers’ relentless aggression on the dirt ultimately secured the hard-fought win.

#11 Lehi (6) vs. #20 Ridgeline (7)

The Ridgeline Riverhawks outlasted the Lehi Pioneers in a high-octane 7–6 thriller, powered by a relentless 15-hit barrage and clinical situational hitting. The Riverhawks’ offense was aggressive from the jump, led by Maddux Jensen, who collected three hits to set the table, while Nate Dahle and Jett Jensen provided the decisive punch with run-scoring doubles. Lehi remained a threat until the final out, largely due to a towering three-run home run from Hazen Elton and a steady afternoon from Jake Welch, who ignited the lineup with an RBI double. While Pioneers' starter Kannon Whiteley battled through four frames, Ridgeline's bullpen proved to be the difference-maker; Jackson Christensen delivered a masterful relief appearance, tossing 1.2 hitless innings to slam the door and earn the victory. Despite the Pioneers' late-inning push and a productive day from Elton, Ridgeline’s ability to string together hits in key moments allowed them to secure the narrow non-region, Walk-off win provided by Ripken Jensen with the bases loaded, 2 outs and 2 strikes. What a finish!
