ALABAMA - Each week throughout the high school season, we shine a spotlight on some of the top performances from across the state in our Alabama Diamond Notes. Compiled from submissions by high school coaches statewide, this feature highlights standout individual efforts from the previous week and takes a closer look at the players who made the biggest impact on the diamond.

John Owen Dean SS / Mortimer Jordan High School, AL / 2026Dean had a huge week at the plate, going 7-for-10 (.700) with 3 HR, 9 RBI, and 8 runs scored. He also drew 6 walks (2 intentional), was hit by a pitch, and finished with an .824 OBP while adding 2 stolen bases. |

Carter Richardson RHP / OF / Brooks High School, AL / 2028The sophomore collected five hits in nine at-bats (.556) on the week, including two doubles, while adding an RBI and a run scored. Finished with a .600 on-base percentage. |

Gunner Johnson SS / OF / Brooks, AL / 2027Johnson turned in a strong two-way performance, going 5-for-10 (.500) with a double and two runs scored at the plate. Also logged 6 innings on the mound, allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts on 80 pitches in a 2-1 loss to Central. |

Jesse Isensee SS / RHP / James Clemens, AL / 2026The Coastal Alabama–South CC recruit had a productive week, going 5-for-9 (.556) with a HR, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Also drew 5 walks, swiped 4 bases, and finished with a .733 OBP. |

Brayden Barnes OF / RHP / Enterprise, AL / 2028Barnes had another big all-around week, going 8-for-15 (.533) with 3 doubles, 2 HR, 6 RBI, and 6 runs scored. Also earned a complete-game win vs. Central-Phenix City, tossing 7 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 7 K, 0 BB while throwing 71% strikes. |

Cooper Whorton C / 3B / Boaz, AL / 2027The uncommitted junior raked at the plate this week, going 9-for-11 (.818) with 7 RBI. Now hitting .500 on the season with 22 hits and 0 strikeouts in 51 plate appearances. |

Jayden Hicks LHP / RHP / Moody, AL / 2026The senior turned in a solid week, going 5-for-12 (.417) with 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored, while also drawing 3 walks. |

Joshua Wilhide RHP / 1B / Bob Jones, AL / 2026The uncommitted senior produced on both sides, going 4-for-11 (.364) with a HR, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Also picked up the win on the mound, tossing 5 scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts, 3 hits allowed, and 1 walk for the 7A No. 10 Patriots. |

Ward Hickman 2B / SS / Orange Beach, AL / 2026An uncommitted senior, Hickman, continued to produce at a high level, going 4-for-9 (.444) with 3 HR, a double, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored last week. |

Colton Boyd C / 3B / Orange Beach, AL / 2027The Southern Miss recruit went 5-for-10 (.500) with 2 HR, 5 RBI, and 2 runs scored last week, while continuing to show high-level defensive work behind the plate. |

Van Richards OF / OF / Russell County High School, AL / 2029The freshman continued his hot start this spring, going 6-for-13 (.462) with a HR, a double, and 3 RBI, finishing the week with a .562 OBP. |

Levi Nickoli SS / RHP / Homewood, AL / 2026The Auburn recruit put together a huge week, going 8-for-13 (.615) with 3 HR, 6 RBI, and 4 runs scored. He also drew 2 walks, was hit by three pitches, stole 6 bases, and posted a .722 OBP for the 6A No. 4 Patriots. |

Garrett Reid RHP / SS / Deshler, AL / 2026Fresh off the basketball court, the Samford commit made an immediate impact—going 6-for-18 (.333) with 2 HR, 3 doubles, 6 RBI, and 7 runs scored. He also dominated on the mound, posting a 1-0 record with 2 saves, allowing just 1 run over 12 innings with 15 strikeouts and only 1 walk (0.583 ERA). |

Dylan Olive RHP / 3B / Deshler, AL / 2026The NW Shoals CC recruit had a big week at the plate, going 9-for-14 (.643) with a HR, 5 doubles, 6 RBI, and 6 runs scored. He also added 3 walks, a HBP, and a stolen base. |

Tripp Benton RHP / 1B / Dothan High School, AL / 2027The junior delivered a strong week on the mound, throwing 9.2 scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts, allowing just 4 hits and 3 walks. He logged 4 IP vs. Cottonwood and 5.2 IP vs. Vestavia Hills. |

Easton Moody RHP / 3B / Brooks, AL / 2029The freshman right-hander earned the win, tossing 6 innings while allowing 5 hits and 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts in a 5-3 win over Central. |

Charlie Buttram C / Brooks, AL / 2026Buttram contributed on both sides in the area series vs. Central, going 1-0 with a save while tossing 6.1 scoreless innings with 6 strikeouts and 4 hits allowed. Also went 3-for-10 (.300) with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. |

Tracy Pearson RHP / Percy Julian High School, AL / 2028Pearson was dominant in the win over Williamson, tossing 5 innings to earn the victory while allowing just 1 hit and no runs, striking out 9 with 4 walks in an 11-1 win. |

Haagan Dodd LHP / OF / Boaz, AL / 2027The uncommitted junior southpaw tossed a 5-inning no-hitter vs. Guntersville, striking out 8 with 1 walk in a 12-0 win. |

Bryant Hardin RHP / 1B / Moody, AL / 2026The Shelton State commit and Senior Future Games alum (2025) delivered a complete-game shutout, tossing 7 innings while allowing 5 hits and no runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in a 1-0 win over Springville. |

Jack Carnell OF / RHP / Albert P Brewer, AL / 2026The senior right-hander battled his way to a complete-game win, tossing 7 innings while allowing 7 hits and no earned runs with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in a 2-1 win over Decatur. He worked out of multiple jams, stranding 10 baserunners along the way. |

Tyler Booth RHP / Rehobeth, AL / 2026The Huntingdon recruit tossed a complete-game win vs. Hardin Valley Academy (TN), allowing just 2 hits while striking out 9 over 7 innings on 99 pitches (67% strikes). He also holds a 0.984 ERA on the season. |
