The Prep Baseball California High School Pitcher of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a Louisiana high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays. 

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

WEEK 2 PITCHER OF THE WEEK

2026 RHP Gavin Guy - Newport Harbor HS

The UCSB signee started his senior campaign with a couple of loud outings and his performance last week was flat out dominant for the Sailors. 

Facing off against Foothill HS, Guy led the Sailors to a win with five strong innings that saw him scatter just three hits while allowing zero walks. Guy finished with seven strikeouts on the day as the Sailors improved to 5-0 with a 6-1 home victory. Guy threw just 67 pitches in those five innings and finished with a 79% strike percentage as he lived around the zone all day. 

And as good as Guy was on the mound, he also finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while batting in the three hole for the Sailors. 

Simply put, Guy was a dominant force in the game. 

We salute junior Gavin Guy of Newport Harbor High School on earning the Prep Baseball California Pitcher of the Week.
