National Player of the Week: 2/23 to 3/1

By Andy Sroka
Managing Editor, Scouting

Today, we’re announcing our first National Player of the Week of the 2026 campaign, as the warm-weather states in the country have begun their spring seasons in earnest.

The following players were submitted by their coaches to our state directors and they went on to earn the Player or Pitcher of the Week award in those states. From there, we sifted through the country’s POTWs and selected the top performer among them, singling them out as the sole National Player of the Week. If you’re a coach interested in submitting a nomination this season but have not yet received that form so far this spring, visit our staff directory to find the contact information for the state director overseeing your state’s season coverage.

Our staff took player stat lines from the week of Feb. 23 to March 1 into account when determining these awards.

🏆 NATIONAL POTW

Cooper Harris RHP / Flower Mound, TX / 2026

“Harris tossed six no-hit innings with 17 strikeouts last week to stay buzzing as one of the brightest right-handers of the spring high school season across the country thus far. Harris' only baserunner came via a dropped-third strike, and he otherwised allowed just two balls in play (groundouts to second and short). He punched out 17 of the 19 hitters he faced using a 90-94 mph fastball with elite command, as well as a sharp slider, 83-85 (2,850 rpm) and a quality curve, 75-76 (2,500 rpm). With good reason, the former Texas Future Gamer is one of the fastest rising prep arms in the nation.”

STATE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Alabama

+ Will Adams, OF/LHP (Hoover HS, 2026) | LSU:
“Adams was 12-for-21 (.571) during the first week of the season while facing some elite arms. The LSU recruit had two home runs and three doubles while driving in 12 runs. He added nine walks and stole four bases.”

+ Gibbs White, RHP (Tuscaloosa County HS, 2027) | uncommitted:
“The uncommitted 2025 Future Games rep tossed a total of 11 innings and only allowed a total of two hits. He did not allow a run while only walking two and striking out 13 hitters. One of his outings was a perfect game (7 IP, 6 K) to kick off the 2026 season at the Prep Baseball Alabama Kickoff Classic.”

David Sharp, Deep South Supervisor

(3/2/26)

California

+ Gavin Guy, RHP (Newport Harbor HS, 2026) | UC Santa Barbara:
“The UCSB signee started his senior campaign with a couple of loud outings and his performance last week was flat-out dominant for the Sailors. Facing off against Foothill HS, Guy led the Sailors to a win with five strong innings that saw him scatter just three hits while allowing zero walks. Guy finished with seven strikeouts on the day as the Sailors improved to 5-0 with a 6-1 home victory. Guy threw just 67 pitches in those five innings and finished with a 79 percent strike percentage, as he lived around the zone all day. And as good as Guy was on the mound, he also finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored while batting in the three hole for the Sailors.”

(1/18/26)

+ Wylan Rottschafer, SS/RHP (Costa Mesa HS, 2026) | Concordia-Irvine:
“The Concordia-Irvine signee was a wrecking ball in helping the Mustangs get off to a 4-0 start to their season. Facing off against Bishop Amat, Rottschafer was 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. The RBI came on a deep blast for a home run coming from the leadoff spot. After drawing a walk in his first at-bat, he advanced to third on a double before scoring on a base hit through the right side. The home run came in his second at-bat that saw him take an inner-half fastball deep over the left field fence to put the Mustangs up 3-0. He would add a line drive base hit to right field in his next at-bat. And if his offensive performance in that game wasn’t enough, he would add a perfect 5-for-5 day with four RBI and three runs scored later in the week.”

– Les Lukach, California State Director

Florida

+ Tavis Honeycutt, 3B (Newberry HS, 2027) | Florida:
“Honeycutt delivered an exceptional offensive performance this past week, earning Florida's Hitter of the Week recognition in the process. The 6-foot-4, physically imposing third baseman went 11-for-15 (.733 batting average), driving in 11 RBIs with six singles, a double, and four home runs. He also scored 10 runs, stole six bases, drew five intentional walks, reaching base at an .800 clip on the week.”

(1/22/26)

+ CJ McKenzie, LHP (Ponte Vedra HS, 2027) | Davidson:
“McKenzie had a dominant outing in Week Two to claim Florida's Pitcher of the Week honors, tossing a complete-game no-hitter over seven innings for Ponte Vedra. He allowed no hits and no runs, issued just one walk, and recorded 16 strikeouts.”

– Rocco Iervasi, Florida Director of Operations

Georgia

+ Reid Gainous, RHP/SS (Thomas County Central HS, 2026) | Georgia Tech:
“The 2025 Future Gamer put together back-and-back dominant outings at Georgia Dugout Club and to open region play over the past couple weeks. He tossed no-hitters in consecutive outings, totaling 26 Ks over 12 innings (3 BB), and his one last week featured 14 over seven stellar frames.”

– Ian Smith, Georgia Asst. Scouting Director

(2/27/26)

Louisiana

+ Logan Maricle, LHP (Grace Christian HS, 2028) | uncommitted:
“Maricle is off to an unbelievable start in 2026, and last Friday may have been his most dominant outing yet. Facing Class 5A Ouachita, the sophomore southpaw was electric, spinning a complete-game one-hit shutout with just one walk and an staggering 20 Ks to lead Grace Christian to a 3-0 victory. The 20 punch-outs set a new school record for the most in a single game. That performance is just part of an lockdown early-season run. Through 23 innings pitched, Maricle has authored three one-hit performances and one no-hitter, piling up 60 total strikeouts in the process. Simply put, he’s overpowering hitters at a historic rate right now.”

(1/10/26)

+ Barrett Coody, INF/RHP (Rosepine HS, 2027) | Northwestern State:
“Coody continues to be one of the hottest hitters in the entire state this spring, and he kept his foot on the gas in Week Three for the Eagles. The former Future Gamer and Northwestern State commit went a blistering 11-for-18 (.611) on the week, launching two home runs while adding four doubles and a triple. He drove in nine runs, scored seven times, and swiped three bases – impacting the game in virtually every phase. On the season, Coody is now slashing .535 with seven home runs, 22 RBIs, and 20 runs scored, cementing himself as one of the premier offensive performers in Louisiana through the first stretch of the year.”

– Alex Armand, Louisiana State Director

(1/10/26)

Mississippi

+ Tate Murphy, INF (St. Stanislaus HS, 2026) | Pearl River JC:
“Murphy, a 2026 graduate from St. Stanislaus and a Pearl River JC recruit, put together a dominant week at the plate. The former Prep Baseball Future Gamer went 8-for-13 (.615) with two home runs, nine RBIs, and six runs scored, consistently driving the baseball and producing in the middle of the lineup. Murphy’s combination of strength and barrel feel continues to show up in game action, making him a key offensive piece for the Rockachaws.”

+ Drew Davis, INF/RHP (Sumrall HS, 2027) | Alabama:
“Davis, a 2027 from Sumrall and an Alabama recruit, turned in an impressive performance on the mound last week. The former Prep Baseball Future Gamer went seven innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run while walking only one and striking out an eye-popping 18 hitters. Davis continues to cement himself as one of the top arms in Mississippi's 2027 class.”

– Matt Miller, Mississippi State Director

(2/11/26)

North Carolina

+ Zack Wester, RHP (Pisgah HS, 2027) | uncommitted:
“Wester was as close to perfect as you can get in his first start of the 2026 season, leading his squad to a 7-0 win as part of a two-game sweep over Enka last week. Wester went the distance and punched out 21 batters – yes, you read that right. Every single out recorded over seven innings was via the strikeout, with two walks and two hits as the only blemishes to his line. Pisgah has a light week ahead with just one game on Friday at Hayesville, so Wester's next start may have to wait another week, but we will be following closely to see if he can match or beat this latest incredibly impressive performance.”

– Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Supervisor

(2/11/26)

South Carolina

+ Parker Davis, LHP (Fountain Inn HS, 2026) | Clemson:
“Davis was lights-out last week, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with 13 Ks and just one walk. The senior represented South Carolina at the 2025 Senior Future Games last summer and has since committed to Clemson. He's a big-time arm talent and athlete on the mound, and he's clearly just getting better.”

– Sean Smith, Mid-Atlantic Operations
