Following a busy preseason across MD and DE, our staff updates the 2029 class rankings. In this update, we expand the total rankings to the top 50 players across the two states, as we see a plethora of movement inside the top 10, including 3 new faces in the top 25.

Justice Smith LHP / 1B / Caesar Rodney High School, DE / 2029

Standing at a long, lean 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame, Smith has added some strength and athleticism over the offseason, and was nothing short of eye-opening at an Ascent Scout Day we were able to watch in Pennsylvania in early February. An advanced mover the on the bump, the fastball has added feel and life since last look, now running the heater into the up 80s, grabbing an 87 with close to 18 inches of horizontal movement. The slider continues to add shape/feel, spinning it down in the zone with some late life down, and has also added feel for the killed-spin changeup. The hit tool also continues to turn heads, showcasing added hand speed with some increased barrel accuracy. It's an arm over bat right now, however, don't be surprised to see Smith turn into a true impact two-way throughout his high school career. This is a can’t miss southpaw to watch as the months roll on, and look for the name to be one that college coaches start to take notes on as a true freshman.

Trey Dickinson OF / RHP / Cape Henlopen High School, DE / 2029

An initial look at a scout day last fall, Dickinson impressed with athleticism and size as a true freshman, and another look this preseason cemented the 6-foot-4, 170-pound outfielder as a top 10 player in the rankings. It’s a line drive type approach with plenty of power upside to the middle, showcasing some advanced barrel feel with the ability to use the whole field. As this frame continues to fill out and mature, look for the hit tool to sky-rocket and the athleticism (3.89 30) to continue to impact in all facets.

Zion Jones 3B / 1B / Dematha Catholic High School, MD / 2029

If you’re looking for a young buck with power upside through the roof, look no further than Zion Jones. A standout and explosive showing at our MD Preseason ID in February, the physical 6-foot-3, 210-pound right-handed hitter oozes easy strength and the thump in the barrel certainly backs it up. Ability to backspin to the pull side with an accurate barrel, this is a hit tool that should only get better as the maturity sets in.
