Everything high school baseball related will be on the GHSA tab on our website. It can be found HERE. This will include the Power 25, Classification Rankings, weekly scout blogs and more.

Today, we are going to introduce a new piece of content called the “Daily Round Up”. Here we will take a look at the games our scouts went to from the previous day and highlight key moments, standout players and our takeaways from the game.

Tuesday

Dutchtown @ Westlake

Score: Dutchtown win, 3-0
Standouts:

Kayden Carter, C, 2028, Dutchtown

Brycen Norman-Jimill, RHP, 2026, Dutchtown

Devin Kendall, SS, 2026, Dutchtown

Cedric Langford, SS, 2026, Westlake

Key moments:
It was a slow night for both offenses to start. But an RBI single from 2028 OF Ethan Emmanuel and another 2 RBI knock from 2026 SS Devin Kendall would push the Bulldogs offense over the top. A big-time performance from 2026 RHP Brycen Norman-Jimill led Dutchtown to a win behind a complete game shutout and ten strikeouts.

Avery’s Takeaway: The Westlake Lions were off to a hot start as they set the tone early this year with a 4-0 record. However the Dutchtown Bulldogs came in and had other plans. It was clear from the jump that 2026 RHP Brycen Norman-Jimill was locked in on the bump as he held Westlake scoreless early on. An RBI single from 2028 OF Ethan Emmanuel would get the Bulldogs on the board to make it 1-0 in the 2nd inning. The bats were cold on both sides from then on outside from a pair of doubles for the Westlake lead-off, 2026 SS Cedric Langford. Chipola commit 2026 SS Devin Kendall came through with a clutch 2-out 2 RBI knock in the top of the 6th to stretch the lead to 3-0. Norman-Jimill came back out for the 7th inning were he proceeded to get his 9th and 10th strikeouts of the night as he put a stamp on the complete game shutout.

West Forsyth @ North Gwinnett

Score: North Gwinnett win, 7-2

Standouts:

Austin Neese, 3B, 2027, North Gwinnett

Joseph Mittiga, RHP, 2026, North Gwinnett

Colton Sweat, SS, 2026, West Forsyth

Brooks DeRosa, OF, 2028, North Gwinnett

Evan Nguyen, 2B, 2026, North Gwinnett

Banks Halcomb, RHP, 2028, North Gwinnett

Key Moments: A first inning run for West Forsyth would push the Wolverines out front early but senior RHP Joseph Mittiga would right the ship and set the tone over 5.0 innings while keeping the lineup off balance throughout. A five-run 4th inning capped off by a massive Austin Neese HR would be the difference maker in the end.

Ian’s Takeaway: For a roster that’s replacing 17 seniors from a year ago, North Gwinnett looked impressive in my first look of the year. Adding senior RHP Joseph Mittiga to top of the rotation is massive as the Indiana commit brings immense pitchability and confidence to attack any lineup. Junior CIF Austin Neese looks as good as I've ever seen him and showed off the plus raw power on maybe the longest HR I've seen at McDaniel Field. 2B Evan Nguyen is a senior who’s been waiting for his chance on this roster and looks dialed at the plate, going 3-for-4 on the night with a backside HR alongside all hard-hit contact. Sophomores getting a chance early for NG with outfielders Brooks DeRosa and Junwoo Jang earning starting roles and RHP Banks Halcomb already making an impact in the bullpen with quickly-growing stuff.
