We continue our spring high school previews and projections with a look at 15 "Picks to Click" as we inch closer to the 2026 baseball season. Highlighted in these stories are players that we believe are in contention for "Player of the Year" or "Pitcher of the Year" and we will give a detailed analysis, including video on each. Without further ado, the next player we would like to highlight is West Virginia commit Kayden Lipscomb from Urbana.

Added strength and physicality bodes well for a huge senior campaign for the West Virginia commit, and a quick look at an early ProCase this preseason has added hype. Urbana fell short in heartbreaking fashion in the 4A State Title game a year ago, and look for Lipscomb to be at the forefront of the offensive success to lead the Hawks over the hump in 2026.

It’s a hit tool that we’ve been fans of for some time now, and the added strength in the body and swing look to add power numbers this spring. Doubles power with a fairly high contact rate, look for Lipscomb to bring thump into the middle of the order and couple it with a high average. Defensively, the WVU commit is a mainstay up the middle and shows the ability to be an impact guy on both sides of the ball. If Lipscomb hits for a high average, provides some timely power and leads the Hawks back to a state championship game, there’s no doubt that a Player of the Year nomination will be up for grabs.
