Monday March 30, 2026

Steward 4, Virginia Episcopal 3

A quiet, back-and-forth battle throughout the game led to an extra-inning contest. Down a run in the eighth, Steward strung together quality at-bats and managed to tie the game on a walk. That set the stage for junior Daniel Hoctor, who took an offspeed pitch the other way to deliver a walk-off win. Junior Ty Rhyne entered in the fourth for the Spartans and filled up the zone, earning the win while allowing zero earned runs in the 4–3 victory.

Centreville 3, John Champe 1

The Centreville Wildcats scraped out a close one against the John Champe Knights, winning 3-1. The game was decided in the 5th inning, with all four of the game’s runs all scored in that frame. ‘27 Kees Yashko was responsible for two of the Wildcats’ runs, ending the day 2-3 with a double and triple. Another major contributor for Centreville was ‘26 Michael Gambone (Appalachian State). Gambone threw five quality innings, striking out six. The Knights were led by ‘26 Brody Harris, who threw 4.1 innings of two run ball. ‘28 Cole Fitzgerald and ‘27 Rylan Jordan were also major contributors at the top of the order for the Knights, combining for 3 of Champe’s 5 total hits. ‘27 Owen Mollerup also led the Knights with a RBI single and multiple quality innings on the mound.

Dinwiddie 20, Monacan 3

Early in this consolation game at the Deep Run Tournament, it looked like we were in for a tight game. Braeden Shores, a Roanoke commit, led off the top of the first with a single and later came around to score, giving Monacan Chiefs a 1–0 lead. After some defensive miscues and a double from John Luke Owen, Dinwiddie answered back to take a 3–1 lead after one inning. The score held until the top of the third, when uncommitted 2027 Grayson Morris launched a solo home run that cleared the fence with ease. From there, Dinwiddie’s freshman duo of Caleb Maitland and Cam Walker kept Monacan’s offense in check. In the bottom of the fourth, Dinwiddie broke the game open with an offensive explosion, scoring two touchdowns and converting both extra point attempts. The game ended after the top of the fifth, with Dinwiddie securing a 20–3 victory.

Salem (Salem) 7, Lord Botetourt 1

A game that stayed tight through the first five innings, Salem made a late-game push against Lord Botetourt to win 7-1. After four scoreless innings, Lord Botetourt struck first in the fifth with an RBI double by junior Jairdan Pennix. In the sixth sophomore Aiden Poff would tie the game with a solo home run with Salem breaking through with two more runs in the same inning and following it up with a four-run seventh to secure a safe lead and the win.

#16 Glen Allen 10, St. Christopher's 2

Daniel Nienaber (Mississippi State) set the tone for this game and gave a quality start for Glen Allen. He went five innings, striking out twelve. Avery Peay took the mound for St. Christopher’s and kept them in striking distance until the fifth inning, where the Glen Allen offense took off. Colby Seay (Hampton-Sydney) and Caleb Whitehead (Lincoln) helped break open the game with a six run fifth inning. Glen Allen would go on to seal the win from there.

Tabb 8, York 2

The Tabb varsity Tigers delivered a strong performance earning an 8–2 district win over York, jumping out early and maintaining control throughout the game. They capitalized on walks and early opportunities, building momentum in the fifth and extending their lead with timely hitting from Corbin Sims. Caden Kuehni earned the win on the mound, striking out five over four solid innings. Brady Busonick came in relief on the mound and went three strong innings, striking out eight.

Mechanicsville 8, Deep Run 7

This one was a back and forth affair, with a couple of ties and lead changes throughout the game. Both teams would score in three different innings, with the Mustangs of Mechanicsville having the final say with three runs scored in the top of the seventh. Like the game prior, this one was about offense. Both teams combined for 18 hits, including a massive day for Wyatt Parker (William & Mary). After a two blast in the first, Parker went on to hit a double in the third, and then the game winning homerun in the top of the seventh. Joining Parker with a multi hit day for the Mustangs was Connor Robertson. Deep Run used a big fifth inning to retake the lead at the time. Their big inning was sparked by a two run single by John Koontz, and the Wildcats would take the lead later that inning on a Connor Papas (Shenandoah) fielder’s choice and a Bryson Jones RBI single. Jones, Aiden Bradshaw (St. Olaf), and Luke Frei were the three multi hit players for Deep Run.

Midlothian 28, Grace Christian 20

Yes, this was a baseball game. It was a baseball game with A LOT of offense. Grace Christian jumped out to an early 7-1 lead after two innings, only to be followed by four consecutive innings of scoring for the Trojans of Midlothian. Midlo would score 27 runs in the next five innings. The only zero that Grace Christian was held to was in the 7th inning. Between both teams, there were 38 combined hits (not a typo), 19 walks, 7 hit batters, eight errors, and 383 combined pitches. A pitcher’s duel it was not. Cason Chambers was 3-4 with four RBI and three runs scored. Grant Boucher had four hits for Grace Christian, as well as contributed three doubles, four RBI, and four runs.

Bassett 2, Floyd County 1

David Cook stole the show as he put together another dominant outing for Bassett. He threw a complete game striking out thirteen in their win. Adam Petty had two hits on the day for Floyd County, but that wasn’t enough to overcome the pitching performance from Cook.

Union 19, Central (Wise) 2

This one was all Union from start to finish. The Bears scored 16 runs in the first two innings. They had nineteen hits, with 16 of them being singles. Groundball, line drive, and you name it, if they hit it, it had eyes for green grass. Liam Skeen got the start on the mound and was lights out, striking out seven while allowing only two hits through his four innings of work. In addition to his mound contributions, Skeen was 3-3 at the plate with a double. Eli Pleasant was 4-4 on the day with a double, four RBI, and two runs scored. Ethan Foster had the only significant impact for the opposing Warriors. Foster doubled home a run in the third inning. The Bears move to 5-1 on the season.

#4 Frank Cox 15, Ocean Lakes 1

Cox Falcons dominated Ocean Lakes with a 15-1 victory, highlighted by an explosive eight-run second inning that put the game out of reach early. Hank Brown led the offense, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, while multiple players such as Tripp Faison (Hampden-Sydney) and Santiago Gomez (Eastern Mennonnite) contributed multi-hit performances in an 11-hit effort. Brown also excelled on the mound, striking out nine over four innings while allowing just one run. Played error free defense as well behind Brown.

#22 Liberty Christian 9, #25 Jefferson Forest 4

In a hometown rivalry, a pitching battle set the tone early as Clark Breedlove (Patrick Henry CC) and Travis Mclaughlin (Water State CC) cruised through two hitless innings. Liberty Christian broke through in the third with a few key walks, a wild pitch, and an RBI double from Cameron Arthur (VCU) to take a 2-0 lead. They would go on to extend their lead in the middle innings. Jefferson Forest answered in the sixth with a two-run double from Camran Jones to cut the lead in half, but the Bulldogs responded with four runs in the seventh and a quick defensive inning to secure the 9-4 win.

Langley 4, John Champe 0

The Langley Saxons shut out the John Champe Knights with a 4-0 win on Tuesday. The game was headlined by Langley’s starter, ‘27 Han Davis. Davis threw a complete game shutout, striking out twelve Knights hitters. The Saxons took the lead with a three run 2nd inning and never looked back. ‘27 Luke Murphy and ‘26 Lance Emery led the offense, both doubling. ‘26 Tyler Kann turned in a competitive start for the Knights, but was outmatched by the Saxons.

McLean 14, Colgan 3

The McLean Highlanders completely dominated the Colgan Sharks in this one, winning 14-3. The McLean offense came out of the gate strong, scoring nine runs in the first and five more in the second. ‘28 Carter Jones roped a bases-clearing triple in the first, ‘27 Adam Wormington tallied two triples, and ‘26 JW Riggins (Georgetown) went 2-2 to lead the Highlanders offense. On the mound, four McLean pitchers combined to allow no earned runs in the five inning contest, led by ‘26 Charlie Erlanger (Chatham) and his two scoreless frames. For the Sharks, ‘28 Roamy Jimenez shut down the McLean offense with three scoreless frames after McLean’s early success.

Langley 11, Centreville 3

The Langley Saxons won their second game of the day with a 11-3 rout over the Centreville Wildcats. The top of the Saxons’ order was full of contributors in ‘27 Luke Murphy, ‘26 Evan Troy, ‘26 Lance Emery, ‘28 Dominic Zaccaria, ‘29 Rhys Jones, and ‘27 Trent Sarin. Jones and ‘28 Liam Borelli combined to keep Centreville’s offense quiet on the hill. The highlights for the Wildcats were ‘26 Caysen Chadha (Denison) and ‘27 Zander Robinson. Both competed on the mound for Centreville and both worked in the mid 80s. Chadha also contributed with his bat, hitting a double and scoring in the 4th. ‘27 Ryan Pilon also had a good day, reaching base three times.

West Potomac 7, Hayfield 6

The West Potomac Wolverines edged out the Hayfield Hawks with a 7-6 win that came down to the wire. Hayfield took the lead early, with ‘26 Zach Suga hitting a two-run single up the middle in the 2nd. But in 3rd, the Wolverines would score three off a string of walks and a double from ‘26 Connor Winkelfoos. West Potomac would add on in the 5th, with a two-run triple from ‘26 Keller Merchant giving the Wolverines a 6-3 lead. Their lead wouldn’t last however, with the Hawks capitalizing off a few defensive mistakes and tying the game off a RBI double from ‘27 Braden Feaster. In the bottom of the 6th, West Potomac would take the lead back with a sac-fly from ‘26 Jackson Galliot. And in the top of the 7th, Hayfield was able to get the tying run to third, but could not get the run across home plate. Two sophomores in ‘28 Noah Laster and ‘28 Grant Williams both turned in quality starts for their sides, but ultimately what decided this contest was how each offense capitalized off errors from the opposing defense.

Salem (Salem) 6, Northside 5

This game was dominated by arms early on, with Zach Bocock (JMU) and Cam Spangler squaring off in a big showdown in the Roanoke area. Spangler and Bocock both worked six innings on the mound before giving way to relievers. While the arms made big pitches early, it was the clutch hitting of both clubs that turned this into a high tension game. After Salem was leading 3-1 entering the top of the sixth, Northside would answer with two runs to tie it up, only to give that lead up in the bottom half. The Vikings would get an immediate response when Cam Spangler delivered a bases clearing triple to give Northside a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the 7th the Spartans would respond. It started with a Mason Hale (Ferrum) double and that was followed up with a Brayden White (Ferrum) RBI single to tie it up. A few batter later, with the infield pulled in, Parker Sweet would hit a high chopper ground ball that would score White and walk it off for the Spartans of Salem HS.
