2026 MSHSAA Team Rankings: Week 2

Kevin Moulder & Eliott Wilk
Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

The Missouri high school baseball kicks off on March 19th, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we published our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Team Rankings.

Our rankings are broken up into two divisions: large school and small schools. We classify the 'large' schools as those residing in Class 5 & 6, while the small schools make up the remaining MSHSAA classifications. We rank what we believe to be the top teams in the state at that level, as well as highlighting several 'On Deck' teams.

Below you will find our week two team rankings for the 2026 season for Large Schools and Small Schools.

2026 Prep Baseball Missouri Large School Rankings - Week 2

The dust has settled on the first week and a half of the Missouri high school baseball season, and our staff has officially released the first update to our Team Rankings.

Defending Class 6 state champion Blue Springs South takes over the No. 1 spot after a strong 5-1 start. Their lone loss came in a narrow pitcher's duel against Kansas No. 4 Olathe East, but the Jaguars have dominated since returning to full strength with several key players returning back from a state basketball tournament run.

Liberty North slides up one spot to No. 2, while former No. 1 Francis Howell drops to No. 3 after falling to both Edwardsville (IL) and a surging Fort Zumwalt West squad.

Fort Zumwalt West makes a significant four-spot jump to No. 6 after defeating Francis Howell to claim the Troy Buchanan Tournament Championship. Now 6-1, they boast a resume that includes impressive wins over Seckman, Timberland, and Westminster Christian.

Oakville also moves up the board, sliding into the No. 8 spot following their Lindbergh/Mehlville Tournament title. Meanwhile, their opponent in that championship game, Lafayette, enters the rankings at No. 13 on the strength of wins over Oakville and previously ranked Lindbergh.

The most significant move of this update belongs to Rock Bridge, which leaped five spots to No. 10. The Bruins sit at a perfect 8-0, highlighted by an impressive 5-0 performance during their recent trip to Alabama. Trailing just behind them is Jackson, making its debut at No. 11 after a flawless 5-0 start. Rounding out the newcomers is Summit Christian at No. 15; the former Small School No. 1 makes its first appearance in the Large School ranks following a move up to Class 5 this spring.

2026 Prep Baseball Missouri Small School Rankings - Week 2

Our Small School rankings have undergone a significant shuffle following an upset-filled week and the recent release of district assignments.

Logan-Rogersville has officially claimed the No. 1 spot, taking over following Summit Christian’s jump to Class 5. The Wildcats' resume is highlighted by an impressive 6-4 victory over Large School No. 7 Willard, with their only blemish being a loss to a rising Licking squad. Fair Grove and Blair Oaks have each climbed one position to round out the new top three.

Five fresh faces have joined the rankings this week, led by Moberly at No. 4. The Spartans have been stellar this spring, securing key wins over Boonville and No. 7 Southern Boone. Right behind them at No. 5 is defending Class 4 state champion Chillicothe, which has burst out of the gate with a dominant 4-0 record, outscoring opponents by a 56-9 margin. Licking enters at No. 6 behind a perfect 7-0 start that began with their signature win over Logan-Rogersville.

The final two newcomers are Seneca and Chaffee, entering at No. 8 and No. 10, respectively. Seneca has put together a solid 6-1 start, while Chaffee has been untouchable to kick off the 2026 season, averaging 13.6 runs per game while surrendering a measly 0.8 per contest. Conversely, both Southern Boone and Duchesne have seen their stock drop this week after enduring difficult starts against stiff competition.
