Valley (2) vs. Benjamin Russell (0)
Valley earned a 2-0 win over Benjamin Russell on Wednesday behind a combined shutout from Mason Yarbrough and Logan Seymour. Yarbrough set the tone on the mound, allowing four hits over five scoreless innings while striking out six to earn the win. Seymour closed the game to record the save as the Rams’ pitching staff totaled seven strikeouts. Valley broke through in the sixth inning when Cole House delivered an RBI single. Yarbrough and Bryant Hopkins each collected two hits to lead the offense, while Charlie Lumpkin finished with three hits for Benjamin Russell in the loss.
Central-Phenix City (9) vs. Columbus (4)
Central defeated Columbus 9-4 in 10 innings on Wednesday at Columbus High School, breaking a 4-4 tie with a five-run outburst in the top of the tenth. Jaylen Carter delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run double. The game featured several lead changes early, with Columbus tying the game multiple times before taking a brief 4-3 lead in the fifth on a solo home run from Ren Smith. Central evened the score in the sixth when Cam Norton stole home. Caiden Williams earned the win in relief for Central, tossing three scoreless innings while striking out three. The Red Devils finished with nine hits and were aggressive on the bases, stealing 10 bases in the contest. Carter led the offense with two hits, while Leland Stanford drove in three runs and Carter Gilley homered.
Theodore (4) vs. Satsuma (3)
Theodore earned a 4-3 walk-off win over Satsuma on Wednesday, with Brentley Cotton delivering the game-winning RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning. Satsuma jumped out early behind a solo home run from Cooper Crenshaw in the first and a sacrifice fly from Darius Kapua in the third to build a 2-0 lead. Theodore responded in the fifth, tying the game on an RBI single from Dreighton Davis and a defensive miscue. Aiden Germany picked up the win in relief for the Bobcats, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. Davis led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Crenshaw finished with two hits for Satsuma.
