The Prep Baseball Louisiana High School Player of the Week highlights the best performance from a Bayou State player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please email Alex Armand at [email protected]

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wedensday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

 

 

Week 2 Player of the Week

 

2026 OF Ridge Coats (Ouachita Christian School)

 

 

Week 2 Stats

-Average: .571

-Homeruns: 5

-Runs Batted In: 15

-Runs Scored: 8

Coats came out of the gates solid in Week 1 — but he absolutely erupted in Week 2 for the Eagles.

Across four games, he went 8-for-14 (.571) with five home runs, 15 RBI, and eight runs scored, while also reaching base three more times via two hit-by-pitches and a walk. It wasn’t just production — it was loud production.

Through two weeks, he’s now hitting .542 on the season with six home runs, 21 RBI, and 11 runs scored. Those are video game numbers that most players would be thrilled to post over the course of an entire spring — and he’s done it before March.

Still uncommitted, Coats is quickly becoming one of the must-see bats in the state this year. College coaches would be wise to make plans to get eyes on him sooner rather than later.
